GENUINE Electrolux 242046001 Defrost Thermostat

I bought my frigidaire french door fridge used and had problems with the refriferator being a biit too warm. 45-50F. After much troubleshooting, cursing, bleeding, and breaking stuff, I found that the condensor coils were not defrosting. After finding the defrost elements had continuity, I decided the most likely culprit was the thermistor or the control board. Parts supplier wanted $65-$70 for this little piece of metal. I got it, attached it, and it worked like a charm! That first hiss of the unit defrosting was music to my ears. Fridge and freezer temps are now stable and within normal operating perameters. Three different times I was ready to chuck this fridge into the yard and buy a new one. If snyone had been able to ship one to me in less than two weeks, this probably would have gone a much more expensive route. Well done!

This part was used to fix issues with getting too warm in the fresh foods side of the refrigerator .

I tested the replacement part in ice water, then in my chest freezer..it never closed under different scenarios..i thought maybe it needed x amount of hours at freezing temp...so I installed the part anyway...2.5 weeks later same issue with evaporator freeze up....bought an OEM part at local appliance shop and tested in ice water..BINGO !!!!...closes and opens with respect to temperature change....I just finished installing and will know in a couple of weeks if this works.....moral of the story, if you can, test the replacement part before installing...or you may be doing it twice...

I have a Frigidaire french door refrigerator that started getting warm. After poking around a little I discovered that the evaporator coils were solid ice, and when I put the fridge into the diagnostic mode and manually turned on the defrost, it never came on. After thawing it out, it was clear that the old thermostat had failed.I paid a little more to get this part here at Amazon than other places, but that was in exchange for fast shipping. The part was very easy to install and I was back up and running within a few min of getting the new part.This should be obvious, but you can't actually test the thermostat unless it is cold, so I waited several hours until the freezer was cold before trying to manually turn on the defroster in the diagnostic mode again. Once I did, the defrost immediately got hot. All fixed!

The most difficult part of replacing this part is just getting to it. The installation is easy and quick. I had no issues getting it to fit or connect.

Frig died, so we googled & utubed how to fix it. Replaced the defrost thermostat. The frig then worked about 3 days ~then problems-the freezer stayed at 0, but the frig went to 55. So next replaced the evaporator fan motor. Been over a week and it works great. Advice? replace both while you have it all torn apart anyways.

Product worked great! Freezer was working but the fridge was staying around 60 degrees. Took the back plate out of the freezer thawed the coils with blow dryer replaced this part and everything is working like it’s a new fridge. Definitely cheaper than buying a new fridge

A little pricey, but came fast and got the job done. My lower freezer coils were not defrosting because my original thermostat had failed. The wires had corroded inside and it would not complete the circuit for the heat strip.

Previously ordered same part didn’t work only for couple a month, this time orders Electrolux part it seems worked perfect thank you.

Nice piece but expensive

I have a Frigidaire professional fridge. The freezer was cold, but the fridge was warm. The defrost thermostat was bulging on my unit, so I guessed that was the culprit.After replacing it, it's been working great again! Easy to switch out, and relatively inexpensive

Works the same as original one and was half the price.
