Wuyi & Ti Kuan Yin Oolongs both excellent quality Oolong teas
Republic of Tea never fails to provide top quality tea. Never again will I buy ground up tea in teabags.I purchased the Wuyi and the Ti Kuan Yin Oolong teas. The Wuyi is a stronger tea than the Ti Kuan Yin.For Wuyi I do 1 teaspoon for 6 ounces for 5 minutes. For Ti Kuan Yin I do 2 teaspoons per 6 ounces steep for 5 minutes. It's important for your first steep to activate the leaves by pouring a little hot water over the leaves for 5 seconds, strain and discard that water, then do your steep. The typical ratio is usually 1 teaspoon per 6 ounces for 3-5 minutes, increasing your steep time per each re-steep.I usually resteep leaves 2-3 more times increasing steep time and reducing water amount . That's just my personal preference because I prefer a stronger brewed tea. Hope that's helpful.

The best oolong?
Actually, I don't know if Wuyi Oolong is the best, I just know that it's the best oolong I've ever had. It strikes me as expensive, but it's a price I'm will to pay, and in fairness one tin last a long time. I usually say that Wuyi Oolong is only hand harvested by virgins on nights with a full moon, which explains the cost. If I'm wrong on this last point don't tell me, I want to keep the mystery alive.

My all time favorite green tea!
This is my "go to" green tea. It is not bitter like some of the other green teas can be. It has a nice smooth body and flavor. Worth the high price.

Good tea, confusing name.
If you're expecting a dark wuyi rock oolong like a da hong pao/big red robe or a shui xian/water sprite, this is not it. This is actually a Taiwan formosa oolong (aka bai hao or oriental beauty). Why they call this tea Wuyi, when it has nothing to do with Wuyi, I don't know. Also, be aware that the tea has large fluffy leaves very loosely packed in the cannister, so the product is very expensive for the amount of tea you get (only 1.75 oz).
