Will this be suitable for chopping meat, cutting through pork bone and slicing roasts?

Hi Matthew, thank you for your question. The Gladiator Series 14" Annihilator Cleaver should have no issues cutting through poultry bones, it's just other types that we cannot guarantee. Like most cleavers, it was not specifically designed for cutting through beef or pork bones. However, I just like to warn you that the knife may become dull more quickly if used on other types of bone. Will it work as a machete?

In theory yes, but due to the hardness of the blade it will probably chip and break off the edge. Up to that point it would work great. Very well balanced and comfortable to swing.

Is this made in China?

Yes. Is the simple answer. However it is an excellent knife and has never let me down. It's great to use, as well as a great decorative piece and a conversation starter.
