Orange Amp Detonator Buffered ABY Switcher

Very impressed with this sturdy product that does everything I needed to do, quiet, rugged, and even a tonal option. Highly recommend it.I tried the Morley passive pedal and it was too noisy although it was nice to have 3 amps Just not usable.

I've been wanting an ABY pedal so I could use one amp for clean tones and another for heavy tones and so I can play through both at the same time to get a fuller tone. WOW!!! This thing is amazing!!! The sound of two amps together is nothing short of unbelievable! First I bought a Boss LS-2 for the same purpose but it created an annoying ground loop buzz in the amp that wasn't in use that was just far too loud and annoying. This doesn't do that, at all! It's silent! It's worth the few extra dollars to get this over the other options.

I don't like where they are manufactured, but if I say where that is my review gets banned (lol) so be sure to check that out if it matters to you.There's some attention to detail issues here for me. The chrome stomp bar thing is installed crookedly on mine. The finish is quite ugly and uneven, in some light it looks grey and blotchy, in other light it is green and blotchy.I like the bright indicator and the fact it is multi-color.The base is made of rubber - why are pedal manufacturers doing this? adhesives will not stick, so if you're mounting to a pedal board you'll have to rip off the rubber mat on the bottom. what IS good is that you can remove it and you still have a bottom plate to work with - not always the case with some pedals.Overall I don't really care tooooo much about the looks, it's what's inside that matters. so 5 stars. it works great and has a phase switch.

I have 2 amps that sound OK, but not great, with either one of them pushing 2 1 x 12s.Using the Orange Amp Detonator, I just have each amp push one 1 x 12, so I still get stereo sound, and it sounds much better to me with both amps operaring. They are two different brand amps, but they are very complimentary using this pedal. I am surprised just how pleasing the combination of amps is, considering I wasn’t thrilled with either of them separately. Also, I can record/play a loop on one amp, and improvise over the other amp, and it sounds way cleaner than if I try to play over the looper hooked to either amp pushing 2 1 x 12s.

I was looking for a reliable ABY pedal that had a Built in Ground Lift to resolve the Noise issues I was having with a previous Pedal I was using & the Orange Detonator did the job until the battery started running low and it started making a weird siren sound. I ended up opening the back which requires a Philips screwdriver and found a major design issue. The Battery is very difficult to replace. It was buried under several wires and you have to be super careful not to damage the connection. When I finally removed the 9 volt Battery, I realized that a piece of the Connector had broken off. Luckily I was still within the return window of my purchase.Pros: Great Price Quiet Well Built Easy to Use Battery IncludedCons: Doesn't come with Power Supply No OFF Or Bypass switch/You need to Unplug it. No easy access to change Battery (You have to remove 4 screws in the bottom to access Battery. Battery is difficult to remove and it's very easy to damage device when removing it.

I absolutely love this thing I have a song with some very fast picking that was really hard to multitrack and with this I did it in a matter of minutes almost seems to easy. Money well spent

I could never find a decent distortion effect for the bass. Every pedal I tried would cut all the low end out of my mix. So now I can run a second amp with a dedicated distortion channel. Now I can keep my bass mix and add the second amp for some grit on it. Love this pedal.

Great ABY box. I pick this one instead of a Radial Twin City mainly because of the single big light indicator. The metal bar in the middle is actually well placed and does not interfere at all. Really we'll made and transparent buffer. In short, as usual with Orange, it's built and thought for heavy rock drunk guitarists ;)
