Philips Audio Philips SHP9500 HiFi Precision Stereo Over-Ear Headphones (Black) (Renewed)

Owned these for about two months at this point. For the renewed product review part: They sound great, came in very good condition (including no gunk or wax in the earpads), feel very comfortable to wear, came with the user manual, long cord to plug into the headset, etc. Overall very good job with the refurb. For the specific product review: The SHP9500 are a very very good pair of headphones. Even new at $70 they are seriously good value for money. The main draw for me is that they feel VERY comfortable to wear. Coming from using a pair of Audio-Technica m30xs for six years, I no longer have the bad ear fatigue issues from wearing headphones for very long sessions. However this does come at a slight cost of not having them clamp onto your head very well and they tend to fall off easier, but that's only a problem for me when I want to lay back in the cheap office chair I have with no upper back and head support. These are open back headphones as opposed to closed back headphones, and they have a much different sound stage than Audio Technica headphones. It's difficult for me to describe general sorts of things such as what difference there is in the sound, but I will say that the SHP9500s sound "wider" and less up close to your ear than the Audio Technicas. Personally, I don't like that. The SHP9500s are missing the "punchiness" and "closeness" of the sound of the Audio Technicas which I prefer. If I had to choose, I would choose Audio Technica next time, but THIS IS JUST ME. I bought these parshally because two of my friends have them and are very satisfied with how they sound. A lot of people on Reddit like them and were recommending them for sound quality as well. Another thing about closed back and open back headphones is that open back leak sound very easily. These do leak sound, so be prepared for that. I was playing a video game, and there was a repetitive very high pitched noise happening in the game and someone who is very sensitive to noise came into my room from the room across from me and complained. This is just the nature of open back, thus why I gave it 5 stars for noise cancellation. Overall, quite good. Would recommend to someone looking for a very good pair of budget headphones, and I would inform them of the difference in the sound stage.

The main selling point of this is the immersive soundstage. However the spatial separation is poor. This makes it sound a bit more cloudy than other headphones but it is up to you to decide if that’s a deal breaker. It is very light and comfortable, and easy to drive without a dedicated audio setup. I have since upgraded to the Sennheiser HD 6xx and Hifiman Sundara/ Ananda and they’re leagues above. The 6xx sounds more immersive due to better instrument separation. The SHP9500 simply sounds loud. The Ananda has the best immersive sound for one key reason: it gives a sense of scale. Quick sounds like hi hats and cymbals sound small and precise while guitars sound far and wide. This layering effect effectively replicates a near field monitor 2 speaker setup.

These headphones came basically brand new, minus any branded packaging. They feel reasonably sturdy and the cable is super long so its basically guaranteed to reach whatever pc you connect it to. Sound profile is also really great with a wide sound stage and great clarity. Some major issues are with the comfort tho. The earcups are far too shallow and the headband is too loose. This makes it an incredibly loose grip on your head and they slip off very easily. I'd suggest you buy some aftermarket earpads to help out. Design-wise, they look very good, minus the obnoxious R and L indicators on each of the grills, but that is very minor compared to the overall value you get from this.

I have 10 pairs of headphones ranging from $30-$300 and these have blown me away. I'm running them with an OCC silver plated cable on my headphone amp. The aspect I think these stand alone in is the vocals are right there on top of everything. Most headphones the vocals get swallowed up for the most part. These also have a great integrated sound profile....that is to say the whole overall sound is just what it should be. Nothing is off or out of place. The soundstage is very enjoyable....no strange sounds popping out at you in places they probably shouldn't. It's really a suburb headphone and at this price it's a major deal. These are not the SHP9600's because I have them as well and I know they are nothing like these. The 9600 are not a bad headphone, but it's not a reboot of these. These in my honest opinion bury the 9600. The 9600 are more boomy and have a constant surround of bass it seems that you are just submerged in. These 9500's sound alive and still have great bass without swallowing you whole into a sound signature that buries one in bass. I would not say these are light and airy either or treble heavy....they are just a well balanced headphone great for enjoying music of all genres.

I'm satisfied in almost every way with these headphones: The build is very durable. It's comfortable for many hours on end. No issues with the stock cable it comes with. The sound quality is really good in comparison to cheap headphones/headsets but its not as mind-blowing as some online reviews can make it out to be. Still very nice. I even mistake certain sounds as coming from somewhere in my room which is something.

Uno no había escuchado música solo ruido antes de usar estos audífonos. Son cómodos y no acaloran, además no obstruyen totalmente el ruido, lo cual es bueno si buscas cuidar tu audición. En cuanto a calidad de materiales pues cumplen y por el precio tampoco se espera más. De lado del sonido es donde más destaca, no tiene bajos muy potentes, pero puedes distinguir perfectamente los distintos canales e instrumentos de las canciones. Recomiendo utilizar un ecualizador y escuchar música en calidad alta.

Le pondría 5 estrellas pero al comprar el producto lo catalogaban como nuevo, después de la compra lo cambiaron a un producto renovado, y al llegar me di cuenta que en efecto eran usados. Me los quedare por que están bastante bien cuidados y se escuchan genial. Los volveré a comprar, ahora que estos dejen de funcionar.
