Much better than the DF mini!
Perfect upgrade from the DF Mini, uses 3.5 connector, works with same DF Mini Arduino code.

Easy way to add audio to an arduino project
This is a nice inexpensive board that allows you to easily add audio or (mp3 encoded speech) to a microcontroller/arduino project. It's nice that it contains a microsd card on board which means you don't need to utilize any sort of memory chip. You just load with MP3 files (or WAV) and trigger via microcontroller via serial command. The board contains a headphone level amp but can't power a speaker directly (plenty loud through headphones)The serial command set to use to trigger specific files to play is a little difficult to use but you can find existing arduino libraries which simplify the process, you can find commands to do most common things (play specific song, next, previous, play specific folder, change volume, etc).I had some issues with the folder play commands in one of the common arduino libraries for the board, there are apparently a few revisions which use different commands but the one I recieved used the v1.0 datasheet and command set so I had to adjust the library.

Doesnt work out the box
I finally got time to use this little guy. The board is faulty out of the box. Plug it into my Arduino Uno R4 and the light blinked on then shut off. Doesnt work. It's not my wiring or code as I used different suppliers on another project and was copying it to duplicate a prop I had made earlier this month. Figured I would try ordering it from Amazon for the delivery time but I was very disappointed. The chipset i received is not the 5300 and therefore i had to go through a different library. I requested a replacement so we will see if they ship the correct chipset and functioning product. If i receive the same crappy knockoff im reporting this.

Exquisite audio, rivals my $1000 amp.
Iโve been an audiophile for many years and I think the sound and clarity from these is amazing.
