This sacral pad works very well to reduce pressure irritation to the skin. I learned about this type of dressing when my spouse was admitted to an ICU after trauma. The nurses applied Mepilex the moment they noticed any redness and skin remained intact. This brand of dressing does not cover the area as nicely as Mepilex but it is far less expensive.

Q: Say they are 4X4 but is all of that bandage? Why don't they tell you? Is the actual bandage area much smaller?

Yes, it is a standard medical size that is used in hospitals and other medical facilities. If a medical team who ever they may be calls for a 4X4 bandage that is what they expect and that is what they get.
