Best Bang for the Buck! Samsung 980 Gen 3 performace is roughly 90 to 95% of Samsung Evo 970 or Sabrent Rocket 3 SSD in atleast 30% less price. Also to mention that its power consumption is much lesser then Evo 970 and Sabrent Rocket 3 due to which less heat is generated and is ideal for laptops. Windows Boot time reduced from 1 min (in SSHD) to 12 secs (in 980 SSD) Also to mention that overall stability of laptop has increased due to which it is accessable most of the times as windows updates doesnt take that long to finish as on mechanial hdd. Also to.mention that even though it is DRAM less drive but it really doesnt affect performance in general pc use or even high end gaming. But it might not be a perfect drive if you run SQL service or CADs work. Sabrent Rocket 3 or 970 Evo + is for that group.

if you're looking for solid performance without stepping into the high-end category, then this is worth the money. will reach high temps when under constant stress, so also try placing a heatsink or thermal pad.

Boot times are nearly instant, and large file transfers are Consistent. @+1 Sequential Speeds: I clocked it close to the advertised 3,100 MB/s read and 2,600 MB/s write on CrystalDiskMark. It handles multitasking and gaming load times with ease. Thermals: The nickel coating on the controller and the heat spreader label actually work. Even under heavy load, it stayed remarkably cool, which is crucial for maintaining longevity in compact builds. Software: The Samsung Magician software is the best in the business. La unidad Samsung 980 es una maravilla. Ya tengo dos años con ella y ha funcionado a la perfección. Cuando la puse en mi computadora se sintió de inmediato la diferencia en rendimiento. La velocidad de carga es muy rápida y el rendimiento general del sistema ha mejorado significativamente. A pesar de que Samsung son lo mejor en SSD, no son muy costosos respecto a otras marcas. Recomiendo totalmente este SSD para cualquiera que quiera actualizar de un disco duro o SSD SATA a un M.2.

Why I ordered this item: I'm trying to breathe new life into an old computer that only has PCIe 3.0 and I needed a new drive. This was pretty much the top tier drive in its day, so I felt confident it would be a good option for me to use in this rebuilt gaming PC for my kid. Likes: * Install of NVMe drives is super easy. Plug it in, screw it in (don't lose the screw!) and install your OS. Connectivity is easy, and this will work on boards with newer PCIe versions too. * My computer detected it with no issues at all. I was able to install Windows easily. * It doesn't run anywhere near as hot as new drives, so no heatsink needed! It gets a little warm during operation, but I monitor my drives with software and it's not anywhere close to this drive's max temp. * Power consumption is almost neglible! * Speeds are excellent. Samsung truly was a leader with this drive and it still almost totally maxes out NVMe 3.0. * This is not super important, but it looks totally awesome. The label is so classy. No likes: * None Would I pay full price for this product: Yes, even at these inflated prices. Final thoughts: Maybe someday SSDs won't cost 4x what they did a year ago, but I'm still very happy with this drive and I can whole heartedly recommend it if you don't need PCIe 4 or 5.

Samsung EVO products continue to please me with consistent quality in performance, price, and compatibility. They are truly a notch above the competition in the small details such as packaging as well as fit and finish but certainly in terms of meeting and exceeding expectations. I would highly recommend!
