Worked perfectly

My washer was making a loud banging during the spin loads like it was an unbalanced load all the time. I watched a video and it showed how to replace these shock absorbing rods. Did the replacement and the problem is resolved. These are not the quality of the originals and the small plastic supports did not fit my machine ( I used the old ones). But my problem was solved in an hour, the parts were half the price of manufacturers, and I saved hundreds over having a repairman come out.

I own a Whirlpool washer and it started to bounce and bang when it spins. This set of suspension rods fixed it. I watched a few YouTube videos first before attempting to replace my machine’s suspension rods. Was able to get it done fairly easily. These are slightly longer (about half an inch) than the ones that came with my machine — thus 4 stars instead of 5). But it still worked. The plastic seat that it comes with also did not fit my machine, so I used my old ones. So don’t throw away the ones that came with your machine until you are sure it works. I’ve had these on my machine for a few months now (I think since February 2026). No issues, so I think it’s quite durable. These might be better at balancing than the original rods. There was only one instance when a bedsheet wrap itself on another sheet when washing, which made the machine unbalanced but it was able to correct itself on it’s own. The original rods would not be able to balance itself in many instances.

Outside of my sore muscles in replacing the suspension rods, I am very happy with the purchase. They were a little longer as other reviews mention. So far, no detriment in the function and it was hard enough to get the rods in place even with them being an inch longer. Do save the old parts as others suggest. The new top plastic parts could have been cut down to fit, but just using the old top white plastic parts was easier. I never even knew to calibrate my washing machine until youtube showed me how. Its a simple half minute thing to do and the machine didn't sound smooth and quiet until I did that. That's a new "old dog" trick for me. I've never known to calibrate the washing machine for a smoother running machine and I don't think anyone who ever did the delivery did it.

After replacing, my washer now runs the spin cycle without banging itself to death. They were easy to install, too. One trick I did was use the hook of old shock to pull the hook of the new shock into place. That made it much easier. With the washer properly leveled, I can only assume these should last for a while.
