Works Well, but the price ...
THE LITTERI love that this litter makes my bathroom smell better. I can remove the clumps usually pretty easily, though they do stick to the pan or liner. If you use the pan without a liner, the product will adhere to the box, and takes a lot of work to get it out. I do not recommend using this without a liner. Though I don't end up with a smelly slushy box by the end of a month, I am going through more litter than I did before, and now they are raising the prices. I have used 3 bags already since I ordered them. I purchased 1 bag from another source on May 21st, and two more bags on May 25 because you have to replenish the amount scooped out in clumps.I rated 4 instead of 5 on the "easy to clean" category, because you HAVE to use a liner if you want it to be easier to clean. If your cat's nails are sharp and go through the liner, you may have to deal with some of the silica and urine getting underneath onto the Box itself and getting stuck there. In that case, you will still have to deal with some scraping and may need to remove the liner with the clean litter in it first to do it. Still , it wasn't that bad. It happened to me, and I just carefully lifted the liner with the clean litter in it, set it to the side to clean the box, and then replaced the torn liner, carefully lifted the prev one that had clean litter in it, and poured it into the new liner. You NEED to scoop it every day. For me, it's multiple times a day. How clean the box is seems to help cut down on how much of it ends up outside the box. Cat's don't like going in dirty boxes. Forcing them to do that will produce more mess, because they will try to stand on the edges of the box, or have to dig more, etc.I do generally have to sweep in front of and at the sides of the box, but at least I am not stepping on sharp pieces of crystal every time I go into the bathroom (the only place we have where keeping a box makes any sense.)THE PRICEI previously paid $28 for two 8 lb bags of litter for ONE cat every month using a name brand larger crystal litter for $16 lbs and I already thought that was steep. Now I have to use 10 lbs of the finer scoopable one every two weeks, and the price just bumped up to $11 for 5 lbs. At this rate I will be spending $44 dollars a month on litter alone! So I do like the litter better than what I used to use, but I hate the price. I worked out how much per pound this litter is compared to the already expensive one I was using before. Keep in mind I have to use more of this one too. The expensive name brand litter I was using costs about $1.75 per pound. This litter is $2.20per pound. I think the price stinks, especially since I have to use twice as much per month as the other litter. Not happy at all with the price. Silica is Silica. I already thought the $1.75 a pound was too much, as I have to use TWO bags for one cat per month. The line that one bag lasts a month with one cat is just not true. Also, their instructions to dump the whole box of litter every month? NO WAY, especially not at these prices! The litter stays very clean when you can scoop out the large clumps and any small wet bits that clump together. There is no reason to dump it all out after a month other than for them to make more money.

Holy Grail!
Though I am a new cat mom, I have spent the last three years trying to find the ideal cat litter for my needs. I have purchased the electronic cat litters with the crystal option kitty litter. I have been gone back to regular kitty litter boxes with clay. What I have learned overtime is that I have a low tolerance for tracking and for smell. With those two things in mind, I have tried many kitty litters. This one is nearly perfect…. Call me crazy but I feel that if I add a bit of ‘Fresh Step Advanced Clumping Cat Litter, Outstretch’ to this kitty litter - this recipe is Perfect. So essentially, I do a 16 oz bag and mix with a bag of these crystals. And voila. Perfection! Number one there is significant reduction in smell, which is a big issue for me. I have already had visitors. Tell me that the smell is significantly improved — if not completely absent. Then there is the clumping – there is perfect clumping with this combination. I just scoop with minimum fuss twice a day and I have a very clean kitty litter box. Also, I can go longer periods of time without cleaning the kitty litter box as opposed to my other options in the past. I believe I have been able to go 2 to 3 months without completely cleaning out the kitty litter and kitty litter box.Downside? There is a bit of tracking…. But I think this goes with the territory with having a cat. And I will take a little bit of tracking any day because this is really working out for me.

Decent product but the price increases are getting to be a lot
First off, I’ve been using this litter for a while and it’s the only kind we can use at this point. Both of my cats have bladder or stomach issues and the large crystals present in other brands would get stuck to them while using the litter box, creating some serious safety concerns. This type from ultrapets has smaller crystals and I haven’t had to clean litter obstructions on my cats, so very happy with that aspect.Though this litter is clumping, I have noticed that occasionally cat urine will cause litter in the bottom of the box to become more of a mushy/slushy consistency that will end up sticking to the box. In addition to daily scooping I have also found that agitating the litter helps the sticking. The main issue with the way it mushes and sticks is that I have to do deep cleans of the boxes with urine removal cleaner twice a month. Some batches are worse than others so the consistency is not always there. Some say a bag lasts a month but in my experience with 2 cats and 2 litter boxes is that we go through 3 bags a month. I like the crystal litter because in addition to trapping more odors than clay or pine, the litter itself also does not have a scent. All of that said, I am disappointed with the recent price hikes. At the beginning of September a bag was $14.99 and two months later the price is $16.98 a bag. I get that prices rise over time but $2 in two months is a lot. My household is stuck with this litter for a while but I completely understand how others would have a hard time justifying $51/month on crystal litter versus $20/month for clay litter.
