FINAL FANTASY4" Final Fantasy VIII 8 Metal Key Chain ~Cosplay~

Amazed by the quality of such a low-priced trinket. Couldn't be happier.
This is a beautiful miniature replica of the gunblade...the level of detail is stunning, especially considering the ridiculously low 4 dollar price. (The shipping however does it make it go up to about 7 dollars total, but ...it's so worth it.) It also shipped extremely fast, I got it within less than 2 days after I placed my order. The gunblade is beautiful: and it's more massive than you might expect. I measured the length of the gunblade at 4 ½ inches, and the chain attached to the back end is 2 ½ inches, giving the entire keychain a length of 7 inches. It makes an excellent necklace pendant if you have a spare chain, but it'll look great attached to just about anything. I rather not attach it to a rattly pair of keys - that sounds like a foolish thing to do to such a precious little novelty like this. Hook it instead to a loop on a portion of soft clothing/make a necklace out of it - yet be mindful that it will flail wildly from side to side when walking faster than usual/running. Avoid attaching it to jackets with buckles, studs, and other hard materials that the gunblade would potentially whip into. And whatever you do: do NOT use it as keychain, as it's marketed! If you read one of the other reviews, the person who did that ruined the integrity of the item.As for another surprise, the cover art on the packaging wasn't of Squall; or at least...not just of Squall. It was a picture of Squall and Rinoa. I don't mind I suppose, but I would have preferred the one of Squall only, as shown in the product image... (Rinoa's an annoying little brat, in my opinion...not too fond of her taking up 70% of the image...she's even positioned in front of squall, blocking his epicness) But... it is what it is, and makes a good final fantasy collectible piece in and of itself, almost like a card. If you don't want to ruin this card, I'd suggest opening it carefully, perhaps with precision instrument like a knife.Overall, this is an amazing value, with or without the shipping fee, making it any easy decision to get a new one should something to awful happen to the original one you bought. I couldn't be more pleased with the 7 dollars I spent.

For the price, it's a very decent buy... But it ain't perfect by a long-shot...
For about $5, the 4" Final Fantasy VIII Metal Key-chain "Gunblade" replica is a pretty decent buy for hardcore fans. It's a nice little collectible, and a decent key-chain, but I would argue that it is far from perfect. I was torn between giving it a 3 out of 5 and a 4 out of 5. To me, 3 seems slightly too low, whereas 4 seems a bit too high. It's more of a 3.5 out of 5. But I had to round up for Amazon, due to them not allowing half-points in scores. To begin, I was a bit let-down as soon as I got the package, because the item itself doesn't match the photo provided. The box itself is quite different, and is a bit taller than the one in the photo, has a slightly different overall design and has a different background image. (Mine had an image of the characters Squall and Rinoa from the games) Also, the keychain itself just doesn't look exactly like the image provided to me. The image and description gave me the illusion that the item would be a bit larger and "chunkier"/thicker than it actually was. The item itself is a lot thinner and lighter than suggested on the product page. Although this could just be a misconception on my part, given the photo provided really doesn't have any sense of scale. However, looking past first impressions, this is still a pretty decent item. There is a fair level of detail in the design of the "Gunblade" replica. Not an immense level of detail, but enough that when viewed from a distance of a few feet, the overall design looks very close to that of the game. However, I did find some small errors and issues with the details on the item. Some of the detail work is a bit "off" (some of the detail work doesn't match the game design perfectly, some of the detail work has slight angles that aren't in the game, etc.), so when you look at it up close, it doesn't exactly hold up. But still, for a 4" key-chain, it is an admirable effort. The item is one uniform "shining" silver color, from what I can tell. Others have suggested that there was some black paint used on their key-chain, but there was none present on mine. (Although some areas appear darker because of shadows and whatnot, but mine is just one uniform color.) This is both good and bad for me. It's a great color for the blade itself, but the fact that the handle and a few other parts (which were black in the game) are also silver does change the overall aesthetic of the product, and I could easily see someone not even realizing it was meant to be a "Gunblade" until close inspection. On first glance, the uniform silver color just makes it look like a regular old blade until you start to notice the design and details.I don't want people to think I'm just complaining though. I just feel that this product does have some inherent flaws, and that it isn't a perfect item. It's still a very decent trinket, though. And I could see other hardcore "Final Fantasy VIII" fans enjoying it immensely, much as I do. Just don't expect to be getting a 100% perfect replica and collectible.(One final note: The tip is quite sharp. It could fairly easily poke holes in pockets, bags and even skin if you are not careful. I would suggest wrapping some tape around the end, or even dulling it a little bit with a dremmel or something.)

Nice Quality, better than I expected.
Squalls Gunblade keychain came in a cute box with Rinoa and Squall on it, beautiful design and artwork on the box. The gun blade is higher quality than I expected, and it's also got a cool lionhart design on the blade. I really like it, and it's BIG and heavy, too. Perfect! Thanks a lot!!

visually well done, poor material.
I had it on my key chain for less than a week when one of the chains broke. Not very pleased.

good replica but low quality
I bough this item several month ago. First of all I want to say, the key chain looks exactly like sword in the game(beside the lion-head that was on a chain, from the original sword). There are areas painted with black paint, like the lion on the blade. On the other hand, if you actually use it as a key chain(attach keys to it), the black paint comes off, and the silver covering on all the sword might be scratched and reveal a copper like colour underneath. But you can notice all the colour flaws only if you look carefully. Furthermore, the key chain is very long(about a length of one and a half normal keys) and might make some holes in your pants with the pointy side.In the end I like this item only because its unique and from a game I love, but I wouldn't suggest to people who don't know the game or just think it looks nice.
