OLDSHANGHAI Satin Long Kimono Robe for Women

This robe is gorgeous! I was pleasantly suprised when I recieved this in the mail, it looks EXACTLY like the photo just needs a little ironing (be gentle and do it at a lower heat to be safe) and I loved the beautiful navy color. The fabric on the outside is a pretty silky material and its less shiny on the inside its very comfortable and not too warm even on a hot summer day. I bought this robe to wear as I got ready on my wedding day and was perfect. I am 5'7" and the robe falls to my ankles and I really liked that so I don't trip on it while going up stairs and such. I weigh about 175 and normally wear size Medium on top and Large on bottom and it worked great for me, not sure how it would work for bigger girls (might be a lil more open in the front) I have had this robe for almost three months and wear it nearly everyday in the morning and it looks the same as when I got it! I've washed it once on the gentle cycle and it handled that fine. I seriously recomend this robe it's well worth its price and looks way fancier than it cost! It's perfect for someone who wants a more modest robe that wont flash anybody when bending over slightly, like most short robes do.

August 2021: I’m still wearing my original pink robe from Old Shanghai, but I’ve purchased a replacement for next summer. Although the original is still in reasonably good condition, I think this will be its last summer of use. Excellent lifespan - I’ve worn this robe daily and washed it at least weekly about half of every year (all spring & summer & into early fall) since it was purchased in June 2015! And every one I’ve given as a gift has been a big hit because they look great on all body types. EDIT AGAIN, 16 May 2017: After contacting Old Shanghai directly, it seems when I clicked “Buy it Again”, then went to change the color, I was inexplicably shifted to another seller called Tigoof Online, and I inadvertantly ordered from them instead of Old Shanghai. For the better quality robe DO NOT ORDER FROM ANYONE EXCEPT 'OLD SHANGHAI'! After they realized what had happened, Old Shanghai sent a replacement robe free of charge, which is very lovely and to the standard I originally expected. I'm attaching photos to show the difference in the products. First is a side-by-side with Old Shanghai hanging on the right, and you can see even the Old Shanghai colors are softer, more elegant, while the Tigoof Online colors are harsher and cheap looking. Photos 2&3 and then 4&5 show some finishing details of the Tigoof Online vs Old Shanghai robes, and 6&7 are photos of the labels of each brand. I changed my rating back to 5 stars because of the excellent customer service of Old Shanghai. Edit 28 March 2017: I ordered another in black as a gift, and I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED. It is 4 inches shorter, the sleeves are a few inches shorter, and it has no interior ties - so how are you supposed to keep it closed while wearing it? It's marked as an XXXL, and does not have the Old Shanghai label, when ALL the others I've purchased are "one size fits most" and do have their label. Did they run out and go around the corner and buy an XXXL child's robe??? Changing my 5 star rating to a 1 star because of this. I needed it before a planned trip, and of course I can return it, but before replacing it I want to be certain I'm getting the correct robe, and Amazon has been NO help so far. Edit: February 2017: This robe has held up very well, and I continue to be impressed. I've ordered others as gifts and they have always been a hit. My 83 year old mother is the type of person who has always cared about her appearance and always dresses well. I purchased two for her, a long and a short version in different colors, for a recent hospital stay, and she loves them both. Both of my sisters have these now, and also love them. In my original review I mentioned ironing out the packing creases when it was new, and hoping I'd never need to iron it again. Sure enough, nearly two years later that is still the only time I've ironed it. Once those creases were dealt with, its been machine washed and dried (on cold water and gentle cycle) many times, and I've pulled it out of the dryer and it looks great. Easy care, in addition to being beautiful. I wear this every day during spring and summer, and yet for now I see no reason to replace it as it still looks great - in a year or two maybe it will be worn enough. A bargain for sure. :-) June 17, 2015: I LOVE this robe! I was looking for a very light summer robe, and this is just so perfect. I have a son and a stepson who are both grown men and are around all the time. I like to shower and change for bed early in the evening and then relax for the rest of the evening with family. Winter robes are easy but I needed a robe with complete coverage that wouldn't be uncomfortable in summer. This is it. This robe is so pretty; the colors are beautiful. I ordered the pink and it's a very soft, flattering color. This robe is so light I'd describe it as "gossamer", but the fabric isn't sheer - it provides total coverage. It looks like silk, but is EASY CARE! When I received it I washed it in cold water and dried it on low. It still had marks from being folded during shipping so I turned in inside out and ironed it on a medium setting to remove those few creases. Since it held those creases so well, now that I've ironed them out I don't expect to ever need to iron it again. For length, I am 5'6" and it comes to the top of my feet - almost to the floor. I am of normal weight for my height and it fits generously, folds and flows perfectly. I'll be ordering more of these, they're available in so many pretty colors and they are just so beautiful! These would be great gifts, too.

So. First off before i buy i read reviews. I put this fit as expected because with my bigger stomach i expected it not to close well in that area. And it doesnt. It closes but if not wearing anything under than itll show all waist down. So on that note. It is beautifully made, love the color. Very deep purple just like i was hoping for. Soft and light, perfect for florida. The sleeves are a little shorter than i had hoped. But i wasnt paying much attention to them when reviewing. They are about three quarter sleeves. I am 5"4' approximately and it goes to just above my ankles. Which i prefer. So very happy with the length. I am around 215 lbs with a baby pouch (some mammas will understand) my baby pouch is the trouble part for a lot of clothes and jackets and such. So i knew its wouldnt be a perfect fit. But i can tie it well. Closes entirly up top. Just opens a little after belly. When able ill post a picture to better help understanding. i love it. And would probably buy im more colors. Very beautiful and totally worth it.

Great quality for the price. The robe is very pretty. All the edges are hemmed and there are 2 front pockets. There is also a small inside tie that helps the robe stay closed. The outside tie is plenty long to secure it around your waist and stay closed to about mid-thigh. I'm 5'7" and it's long enough that it hits about 2 inches above my ankles. Giving it 4 stars because the fit is not perfect. The sleeves are 3/4 sleeves and I'd hoped for something longer based on the picture-- the short wide sleeves make it look boxy on the torso. Also, there isn't quite enough fabric to completely close around your entire leg if you have hips or thighs. I'm 160 and fairly curvy so there's just barely enough to go around my hips which makes the bottom of the robe, mid thigh and below, split open unless I keep a hand on it. Still, I think this was the best purchase after viewing dozens of other kimono robes at various sites on the internet. If you don't mind the shorter sleeves and your mid section is a bit slimmer than mine, it will fit perfectly.

Loved this! It's exactly as pictured. It came to about my ankle and had 2 slits on the side that came up mid calf. I'm 5ft 4 pretty voluptuous 36DD 30 in waist 44 hip so I think many others could fit this even up to a 35 in waist. I wish the waist tie was slightly longer, because I tie it in a bow and it fits not like a small bow or anything but I wish it was longer for comfort, might not be good for someone with a larger waistline. I think the pockets are genius and the inside tie works great to cover and secure everything. Perfect for what I paid for it. I love the design and the vivid color of the one I bought. It's smooth and feels good, definitely not silk but I love it regardless. I really didn't want to spend a hundred dollars on a robe I use for around the house in the morning.

I'd been looking for a full length lightweight robe and this kimono fits the bill perfectly. Most robes are bulky and thick and too warm for me. I just wanted something light to throw on while I'm getting dressed and I don't know why it didn't occur to me to consider a kimono sooner. Fit: I'm 5'4 and I feel the length is perfect. With other robes I'm always constantly tripping over the seam, I don't have that problem with this kimono. Construction: I love that the side pockets are on the seam, not stitched on the front like you would find on regular robes. It also includes additional strings inside to tie together to help keep the kimono shut in case your belt becomes loose. For a kimono, the sleeves are rather narrow, but they are more functional that way. Style: I chose the charcoal gray color and love it. It's feminine with out being overly girly or masculine. Also, I'm not embarrassed to wear this kimono as I step outside on my porch in the morning to grab the newspaper. Side note: my kimono arrived later than originally communicated when I ordered. The company did a great job of proactively reaching out to me to let me know there would be a delay and to set expectations as to when my kimono would arrive. I felt the customer service and communication was above average which makes me appreciate this company even more.

This robe is PERFECT!! It's light weight and comfortable and the perfect length! Idk why people can't explain the length. It was the one thing I was most nervous about. Ok, I'm 5'7", 150, and pregnant. I decided to get a large because I didn't want it to be too short and I wanted (needed) the extra fabric lol. The robe hits me right at my ankles and wraps all the way around my pregnant frame comfortably. The sleeves are 3/4 sleeves, which is different, but it makes me feel like I'm really wearing a geisha's robe! The fabric feels like silk on my skin and is so incredibly comfortable. The color of the fabric is much better in person I think. I got peacock, which looks beautiful on my computer screen, but when I saw the actual color, I cried because it was so breathtakingly beautiful....and maybe because I am pregnant and everything makes me cry right now. I feel so elegant and comfortable in this robe. I'm probably going to be living in it for the next year...or two, so I'm going to need to purchcase another one (...or two lol)!!!

I wasn't sure what to expect when I purchased this. The reviews were all good... but one never knows. I love this purchase. It fit me well (I'm 5'4" and have some curves and the robe is down to just above my ankles)... I was looking for a long robe and that's what I got. :) The robe is well made, looks terrific on me, covers me well, and is the perfect light weight summer robe. My only complaint is (and it's minor), I wish it had a loop in the back of the neck so I can hang it on my door like I do my winter robe. It's probably best for the robe to be hung on a hanger, but for speed and laziness, I like hanging them by a loop. :) I truly like this robe, recommend it, and now I want another in their other colors. :)

I bought this for my daughter's 38th birthday. It arrived at her house earlier than expected and just two days before her birthday, today. She is a lady who has everything, but does not always pamper herself. I checked online for the best buy and quality for money and decided on this. It is beautiful...we Skyped today... and she loves it. My daughters are tall, 5'10" each. This fit her to the knees which is perfect. Many other products show the kimono or Hapi coat on a 4' model and then you get something way too short. This is perfect. The colour and pattern are beautiful. Highly recommended by me and my daughter for a feel beautiful and happy wrap!

Speedy delivery and great quality

Came 15 days before expected shipping day. More stunning in person, very thin which is great for summer.Very soft to the touch. I rate low due to the fact every stitch is unraffling. Goes to mid calf in length, I'm 170cm. I'm just very glad I can sew and fix the cheap stiching before the robe is completely wrecked.
