Does this remove rust/iron?

That would depend on the filter installed in the housing. If you are dealing with large rust and other sediment particles in your water you should be fine with a 5 micron sediment filter. For wells I like pleated filters like this: https://amazon.com/dp/B074FW96PG. If iron is dissolved in your water, you need something that filters iron/manganese like this: https://amazon.com/dp/B09JWP92PD

How do you contact customer support? The inlet and outlet ports leak no matter how much ptfe tape or thread sealant used.

I put an O-ring (# 18) inside each port before the brass bushing. Then I coated the threads with sealant and 10 wraps of teflon tape. I think there may be a design flaw, it shouldn't be that difficult.

The filter housing leaks profusely. i checked the o-ring/tested it without a filter to no avail. anyone had this problem and been able to fix it?

Try to lube the o-ring with some coconut oil or silicone lube and reassemble. Also, if you are using carbon filters, I have seen that sometimes they are just a bit too tall, and so removing one of the gaskets allows the tank to be tightened a bit further, causing a seal. If you write to the company for support, they have a support rep out of Canada who is fantastic.
