This is a great pencil! Such enthusiasm for a pencil is hard ...
This is a great pencil! Such enthusiasm for a pencil is hard to imagine, but I use a pencil virtually every day. It's got a shake-weighty thing going which makes people look at you funny if you're in public, but once they realize it's just a pencil they stop videoing you... No, in all seriousness... it's a pencil... lead, eraser, tube that holds it all... Looks cool, feels good in your hand and oddly enough, even writes when properly used. If you're on the fence, let me give you a push....buy this pencil. I work in a lead mine and the industry needs the business... Ok, I don't work in a lead mine, but get this pencil anyway.

A great overall pencil
It has a really nice feel to it. The plastic construction feels very solid, and the size of the barrel is really well suited for my hands (average male size). The shaking feature is nice, although for me it's more of a novelty that I don't use. I use the locking feature much more as it allows you to change the pencils weight with the internal shaking device. The eraser is great, although kinda small. I went through it in about 3 weeks. All in all, I really like it and use it as my daily driver

If you can't get a Pilot Shaker pencil, TomBow Mono Graph Shaker is nice.
Shaker pencils are phenomenal! They're wonderful because when you're writing feverishly, and can't stop for a second, a quick "flick" of your wrist with a Shaker pencil reloads the lead!!! It's Excellent for taking looong notes, making calculations, #2 lead standardized tests, precision sketch/drawing, .... Pilot made the 1st, Original Shaker H-1010 pencil. It still is the BEST! It's has been my FAVORITE mechanical pencil for over 20 years! But, it's hard to find. I've tried other brands and models, and I like Pilot the best for Shaker pencils. But, TomBow Mono Graph Shaker has nice qualities I like the smooth, thin pencil body, & indented notch for a secure grip. TomBow requires a short, quick, firm, strong "shake" to reload lead (compared to other Shaker pencils). 1) I dislike the flimsy plastic Clip. It feels fragile and bends dangerously, ready to snap! Clip also easily gets caught on everything! - 1 small, careless move & Clip is broken & gone! 2) I really dislike the thumb-click design. TomBow Mono Graph Shaker relies on that same flimsy plastic Clip for manual thumb "click" and reloading lead. I find manual thumb adjustments using the Clip more awkward than a typical back end/eraser. Most important, if the flimsy plastic Clip breaks off, the pencil can no longer be adjusted! For Shaker pencils, I highly recommend Pilot. Pilot Shaker designs have the easiest & most sensitive "shake" mechanism. Favorites are: Pilot Shaker H-1010 - easiest long, smooth, gentle "shake" needed; firm plastic textured grip. (But, this model can be hard to find.) Pentel Pilot Fure Fure Sprinter (Shaker, of course) - easy long, smooth "shake" needed; thin body; smooth plastic grip.

Durable
The price was great for such a good pencil. It seems and feels durable and does not have a cheap look to it. The pencil is quite on the heavy side, but that only makes it easier to write with. I like the concept of a shakable pencil.

Buy it.
This is easily one of my top 5 favorite pencils of all time. I've used it for everyday writing and a lot of drawing, and it has not failed me yet. It's sexy. Has great weight distribution. Nice (replaceable) eraser. And it's super cheap. Just buy one. What's the worst that can happen?

snap
you just shake it and lead comes out the front, i think it was designed by the sig sauer p320 engineers. its a novel concept. it works, but its hard to write with while the insides are jiggling back and forth, and even when locked, there is still internal movement. for that reason it falls short in usability and comfort.

Its a heavier for use on daily basis. Between the outer and lead barrel, theres a half sized heavy metal cylinder which moves to and fro on tilting.
