I have always used files or a rotary grinder to sharpen chainsaws my whole life, I am 67 years old. I am not a forester or logger. Just a guy that had to cut trees from storm damages, pruning to maintain my property, cutting firewood or making fence posts out of trees I cut down. I have arthritis getting into my hands these days, but in years gone by I could sharpen good with a file, now-a-days the arthritis makes my hands hurt when I do hand filing so I bought this to eliminate that pain. To my surprise this seems about three times faster than hand filing. I would count the file strokes I made to put the exact cut on each tooth, that's how I estimated how fast it is now. The diamond sharpening from this tool did very well, lasting longer than the rotary stone types I used to use in a drill. I also used the slowest speed with 5/32" diamond rotary. I liked the angle attachment, I use one of those on my file to help hold a tighter angle so it was natural for me to use this one. I used this sharpener for the first time today, 2 times between two saws. It works very well and fast as it sharpens every tooth perfect. When I do hand filing I can be off a bit, but using this tool on the first chain I hit all of the teeth perfect. Each saw, different bar lengths for different tasks each one was making long clean cut wood chips as they cut. I like to touch up the teeth after I run out each tank of gas, doing this also lets the saw cool down before refilling the gas for safety. If the chain was cutting good, only a light touch up resharpen is needed, I only remove a small amount of metal off each tooth and it keeps it cutting like a hot knife in butter. I got into this habit from years of cutting tees that had nails, bullets, or old fence wire that I did not know were in the trees. This new tool is going to make life very good now. Tip, I ordered an extra pack of diamond cutters in the sizes I use the most to be prepared as they wear out. Well, now that I finally broke down and got this, it works so well I wish I would have got it 20 years ago. This tool has been excellent so far. Quick and easy to use. A secondary reason I bought it was that it can double as a Dremel tool.

Seems to do the job pretty good gotta do it at the slow speed though because at high speed, it grips too much and bends the bits. You gotta go easy cause you can take too much off the guide you sure are gonna get used to it to really get at the right angle but once you get it, it does sharp and quicker, I still use a hand file when in the woods, but when I'm at my shop, I use this to save time.

I took a chance on this item and I am glad I did. I was tired of using the round files that take forever to sharpen my blades and needed something that would work without taking up a lot of time. I sharpened the dull blade on my saw and could immediately feel the difference in how it felt verses the round file sharpening. I was able to keep a good angle on the blade and the teeth sure felt sharp. The litmus test was working on my lot cutting down dead black spruce trees (which dull your chain with just a few trees). I went through dropping, limbing and cutting stove lengths no problem with the old blade that I sharpened. When the chain felt like it was cutting slow, I just quickly re sharpened it and went back to work. No problem, no wasted time, nice and sharp. Pros: Worked as stated, adjustable motor speed, sturdy storage box for the tool. Came with a few bits and wrenches. Cons: Sharpening bits will last for two sharpening cycles then are junk. Good thing they are cheap and disposable. Recommendations: As the tool comes with three different sizes of bits, figure out which one fits your saw blade the best then order a bunch more to have on hand. I was so pleased at how well the sharpening process was, how well it worked in the field and how much better it made my afternoon that I bought another kit for a gift to give away.

With a big winter storm that took down a lot of trees, my Huskvarna 460 Rancher 24" saw was getting a real workout and the chain needed sharpening or replacing. Hand sharpening has always been hit or miss for me as I don't need to very often, so, not a pro by a long shot. I decided to get this sharpener and, WOW, for ease of use, quality of build, and outcome, you can't beat this, I will never go back to manually sharpening. It comes well packaged with 3 blade sizes, tools for charging the files/blades, and a small instruction sheet. The instructions aren't super detailed but it has a QR code that will get you signed up for your warranty, download a full set of instructions, and give you a discount code for buying more little files/blades. I watched a couple of videos online, but using this sharpener is pretty self explanatory. You need to know or look up your chain for your saw for the angle and size blade to use. Swapping out the blade is like any other rotary tool and there is a little metal guide to help ensure you have the right blade. The guide can be used or not, I used it as it did help keep me honest with the correct angle. As far as actually sharpening the saw, I found that just a little pressure and moving the blade back and forth a couple of times for each tooth was plenty. After you have done a few teeth, you will get a feel for the best method that works. It took less than 10 minutes to do both sides of the saw and all the teeth. After sharpening the saw, I had a couple of trees to cut up and was amazed at how sharp it was, it was cutting through hard wood like butter. I would have sworn I had a brand new chain on the saw, it was that good. I cannot recommend this sharpener enough. It will save you money on chains and is the easiest and fastest way to sharpen dull chains.

It’s ok, adapter quality was so so, fair quality because it was sent bent, otherwise it works, I didn’t want to return it to waste time, energy, & pollution for minor issue. It seems to work like my old unit.
