Very light
The light shade gives a good silhouette. Great for accenting a decoration.

No issues
I wasn't using this for a sewing project. Rather, it was for wrapping around a base to diffuse lights within. As such, it was great. The mess was more open than I expected (requiring a few extra layers) but not by much. I can't speak to its use in seeing.
