I can’t seem to adjust the volume on a MacBook via the clip, does the product support this?

Please select the output device(BR1001) you want to use. You could use the device you selected for volume adjustment.

can this be used on a tv that has not got bluetooth

I think it depends on what you want it to do. If its to play something out of your tv speakers, then yes. If its to use with bluetooth headphone, then no :(
