Best glue to hang 8lb glass on a window

This is ABSOLUTELY not the product for that. This is used to glue glass pieces together so they stay connected while heating in a kiln. There is no glue to glue glass to a window. You may be able to visit a home hardware store and get a silicone caulking but I'm not really sure what your project is so I cannot make a recommendation. Do NOT use this to attach glass to glass in any type of application besides glass fusing.

If you're talking about a stained glass panel, it should be framed and attached to wall (stud) with proper hanging materials. Glass that heavy should never be hung by attaching it to a window.

What's the difference between the two glastac products?

Both products are water soluable, burn out cleanly in the kiln and tack glass pieces together prior to placement in the kiln.  The original pink has a thinner consistency and it is slower to dry which can be useful when adjustments are needed during design.  The gel is thicker, holds shape better and has a stronger, more immediate bond useful in situations when there is a need to move the project without waiting for the product to dry.

Yes. It's thicker than the Ed Hoy Hotline version, but it will work.
