Prime-Line Products C 1043 Sliding Door Flush Handle Set, Black Diecast, 1-Pack

I bought this along with the C 1034 door handle -- our door handle finally broke and the (vintage 1980) latch mechanism broke a long time ago. I ordered them separately because I wanted the dark finish mechanism (to match my patio door) without a keyed lock (there is a set with Handle included, in chrome). I want to tell you that this middle aged+ 'handy girl' took out the old mechanism, and installed the new one including lining up the jamb keeper and figuring out which length latch was required for my old door punch out. When it came time to affix the handle I called my husband for help as four hands are better than two at that point. No more than 30 minutes from start to finish -- one of those DIY projects that actually went without a hitch. One of the screws was a tight fit so I dry fit everything before assembly which saved a little aggravation. Nice quality material, I was pleasantly surprised! Rated 4 instead of 5 because 1. It's not quite as sturdy as the original equipment. 2. Going to have to do something tricky and shim the keeper because the hook will not engage. That's the only thing that kept me from 5 stars. It's appears that it will do the job when I'm done with it. Needs a little modification for my application. May slide right in for others. I'm using on a 27 year old door.

Fits perfectly to my balcony aluminium door. Works well. Easy to install. I had to find shorter screws, because the screws that came with the lock were for thicker doors. The key is to check your original lock measurements against the measurements posted with the photos of the lock on the product web page.

Broke in half before I installed it. I still was able to install it successfully because with two screws and being inserted into the door it will stay together.Firm lock and unlock!The lock and unlock safety is loose and will not work for childproof. If you don't need that feature the lock is a perfect replacement.It seems to be the only replacement if your sliding door has one like this already because of the size of the cutout in the door.Just be gentle not to bend it in half to try and straighten it. Just install if it comes bent and it will straighten as you screw it to the door.
