Q: My jug is marked 'made in china', not in stoke-on-trent, england, as stated above under 'manufacturing process'

Yea, mine says the same. Unfortunately Portmeirion has some of their China. Ow made there, but it is under their specifications— not a cheap Chinese imitation. I have used my jug many times a day for years now, and it is still is in perfect condition. So, do not worry about it being inferior quality, even though you are disappointed.

No. I heat water in the microwave to boil, and the handle temperature is fine.
