Perfect for my teen
Have used the various other alarms out there and they just DON'T DORK. They are too short for my son who turned 13. He hated those alarms with wires and the wireless ones seemed way overpriced for what they do. The Chummie Pro is a good system. The mat is large, not the most comfortable one for my son, but he fell asleep within a few minutes and would not wake up till the alarm went off. The only problem was that the mat moved at night and would come off from the sleeve. Called the manufacturer and they recommended I place it under the be sheet. Simple! Once done, the treatment was fast and very effective. Fast forward 2 months later and hes gotten over his bed-wetting. The system is simple to use and clean. After my son wet, I just cleaned the mat with a dry towel and placed it in the second sleeve. In the morning I would wash the sleeves. The alarm is loud (not jarring loud), but loud enough to wake him up and treat him. Bed-Wetting accidents went down gradually and two months later, hes not a bedwetter anymore. Perfect fro my teen!

I can't believe anyone would genuinely give this product five stars--cheap and awful
All I can figure--with no disrespect to any of the people who wrote the other reviews--is that either a) the company has changed its manufacturing processes and what I received is not what they received, or b) they are fake reviews. This is probably the worst thing I have ever bought on Amazon. I understand with other purchases, like computers, that they will work fine for some people but not for others. This isn't like that. This is so cheaply made and so poorly designed that I honestly cannot imagine it working well for anyone. For your $150 (!), you get what is basically a laminated piece of paper with a couple of wires duct-taped to it that plug into an alarm. They must buy these wholesale for $5-10 each--there is no fabric, no sensors, not even a proper connector to the wires. Duct tape! If you use this for more than a week or two, it will fall apart. It just won't stand up to daily use. At least, that was my experience. Oh, and it doesn't work. Went off randomly when dry; didn't go off when wet. I bought it from what I think is a different company--"Theos Medical Systems"--which seems to operate under a lot of different names, no doubt one step ahead of the Better Business Bureau. If Forte Beauty really is a different company, then you might get good customer service, including the ability to get a refund when yours turns out to be garbage and you send it back. If Forte is actually Theos, then you will never get your money back--I have had all my emails go unanswered, despite being well within the return window and having already shipped it back to them. If you really feel like buying this product, I recommend you instead take your money, put it on a table, and light it on fire--it will save you a lot of aggravation.

Good product, but flawed
Let me start off saying that this product worked really fast for my 7 year old son, but I think the one I received was defective. The reason I think it worked fast is because it actually got him thinking about going to the bathroom while he was sleeping. So yay for that! The reason I think mine is defective is because it would go off constantly when he wouldn't pee on it. And yes I know that it can go off from sweat, that is why we covered it with a pillowcase as suggested from the chummie website. Well that still didn't work, so I covered it with another pillowcase thinking maybe he is sweating through the first one, big surprise that didn't work either. The device had no moisture on it at all and the batteries were brand new. Overall though I am very happy that it helped my son even though it went off constantly when it wasn't suppose to.

Simply put Chummie is the Best Bedwetting Alarm. It works like Magic.
My teenage son used to wet the bed on an average 5 times a week. He was struggling to get over it and we were helpless. We wanted to help him but didn't know what to do. Some articles over the internet provided relief for a day or two and then he was back to wetting the bed. A friend of mine who is a pediatric suggested that my son should try a bedwetting alarm. He also mentioned that I should consider the Chummie brand of bedwetting alarms and it is popular brand, has credible support and something that has worked for his patients. We went on Amazon and looked at our options. Chummie PRO was the best fit as it was a mat based system. Our overall experience with the system was fantastic, though the first few days we had slow progress. My son gradually started responding to the alarm. In a few weeks he reached a stage wherein he woke when the alarm buzzed and used the bathroom by himself. That was an improvement in itself. It took a couple of weeks more before he started getting up by himself to use the bathroom. It’s over a month now that he has been sleeping dry. Chummie worked, I just wish we had known of this brand a few years ago. I am glad to have purchased this product and very pleased to write this review. If the thought of trying a bedwetting alarm is holding you back, don't let it do so. Give it a try, be patient and it should work. I would also recommend purchasing a spare mat, so you can easily replace the mat at night and clean both in the morning. This will save time and help your child return to bed sooner with a less interrupted sleep.

Not a fan..too many issues.
I bought this product for my son who is 10. We have had this product for less than one month and it has quit working due to their own battery exploded and damaged the device! That being said, at first, I thought this would work great. The alarm was loud, bright and I knew it would wake my child. However, it is extremely uncomfortable. Imagine laying on a sheet of hard plastic. Secondly, it bends around the edges so it no longer will lay flat. Third, while it does work when he has an accident, it also goes off if he sweats! I unfortunately would never recommend this product for any child who is older what so ever.

Not a cure-all, but it is helping!
My son who is almost 7 years old has been struggling with bed wetting. Some history on him: He had sleep apnea as a toddler, and had his tonsils and adenoids removed at 4 years old. He is a VERY deep sleeper, and he has sleep walked on several occasions. Before the Chummie he wore pull-ups every night, and he was dry 2 nights per week on average. On several occasions I would have him go without the pull-ups for several weeks straight to see if that would help....but it didn't, he would sleep in wet pajamas and wake up hours after he had wet the bed. Our doctor recommended a bed alarm system, and I went with the Chummie mat because it is less intrusive then the underwear clip. We have used the Chummie religiously for 3 months now, and I have tracked his dry nights on the calendar with stickers. It has been up and down, some weeks were great, but other involved bedding changes every night for a week straight! Overall he is wetting less often, and averaging 4-5 dry nights per week. We will continue to use the Chummie for as long as necessary, as my son does not mind using it, and I like getting him out of his wet pajamas and bedding immediately instead of hours later. I also want to share with you how we use the Chummie, and some tips I have. The Chummie is the size and feel of a kids plastic placemat, or a floppy cutting board. It was more rigid than I expected, and is pretty noisy when they move around in bed on it. Since my son is a deep sleeper, the noise is not an issue for him. This could be an issue for light sleepers, or for kids with texture or noise sensitivity. My son loved the friendly look of the alarm device, and he liked that "Chummie" meant his friend/buddy who wanted to help him have dry nights. The mat has a long thin cord, about 8 feet long. It has a clip to attach to the side of the bed, or the pillow, but after about a week, my son was sleeping through the alarm. So it was nice that the cord was so long, and we could stretch it out so that the alarm is in the hallway, and now it wakes me up instead. The alarm is louder than a watch alarm, but quieter than a traditional alarm clock. It has different alarm settings, but changing settings or checking settings is difficult. There is a button on the side of the alarm that you can push up or down, the number of pushes up or down is how you change the settings. It was complicated to figure out, and once I found a setting that worked for us, I just don't mess with it anymore. This feature could use some improvements on future models of the Chummie. The Chummie is ultra sensitive to moisture, and since your child is sleeping on a sheet of plastic, sweat becomes an issue. The alarm will sound with the dampness of their sweat, creating a false alarm, but there is a remedy to this: layers! From top layer down: bed sheet (thin cotton or flannel both work), then a thin beach towel folded in half, then the Chummie, then a waterproof crib protector, then the regular mattress pad. I also fold one edge (about 4 inches worth) of the beach towel under the lower end of the Chummie, this helps keep it from moving around when your child rolls around at night. This sits atop the waterproof crib protector, just to make clean up easier on me. The waterproof pad is the same dimensions to fit in a pack-n-play, and it is a little bigger than the Chummie, so any spill over stays contained on the waterproof mat, which means less laundry because the mattress pad stays dry. Since perfecting this layer system, we have not had any false alarm beeping. When my son wets, I hear the alarm and wake up, then I push the button on the alarm to make it stop beeping, then I have to wake up my son, then I pull off all the wet stuff, I wipe down the Chummie with whatever bedding has a dry spot, then I make the bed while my son changes his pajamas and uses the bathroom, I make sure the alarm is still plugged in, and then its back to bed. Weekly I wipe down the Chummie with a wet paper towel, and dry it. It has not retained any odors or discoloration, and it seems to be holding up very well. Some reviewers mentioned that the wires came unattached to the mat, I think with normal use this would not happen, but if you tripped on the cord or pulled really hard, the wires could snap off. So overall, I am very happy with the Chummie, and I think it is helping my son. I think the bigger issue is that my son is such a deep sleeper, and that the Chummie would be more effective on lighter sleepers. It is still worth the investment and the time changing sheets, and I prefer this to pull-ups or sleeping in wet pajamas. The only cons for me, which is why 4 stars instead of 5, is how noisy the plastic material is and the button to change the settings is awkward, however, neither of these is too big of a deal. Besides that I think it is great, and I'm glad that my son dose not mind it at all. I still have hope that with more time, my son will have even less wet nights.

Traumatic to child!
Imagine waking to the house fire alarm beside your bed. That is what this device sounds like. The instructions show a graphic of plugging in the device and the child sleeping. When the device senses moisture (later on that) the alarm sounds and per the instructions the device is deactivated and the child returns to sleep. What a load of... Real world... 1) The physical characteristics - The device is a plastic sheet similar to a disposable kitchen cutting surface. Conductive film is laminated to the sheet in a pattern where the circuit is broken. Moisture on the sheet completes the circuit activating the alarm. In real world conditions this means the sheet must be covered by the bed sheet (pretty obvious) however the sheet also promotes sweating due to child laying on the plastic - ALARM!. A second lightweight 'baby blanket' may solve or minimize this issue. For children who take baths or showers immediately before bed this will also create an issue. The moisture from hair and skin will easily set off the alarm. There is another inherent problem with the plastic sheet under the child. It FEELS like a plastic sheet and it SOUNDS like a plastic sheet. Not soothing for a good night's sleep. 2) The alarm - The device sounds like a loud pager from 1993 or a residential fire alarm. Imagine your little one waking to that. The wiring of the alarm allows it to be placed a few feet from the bed however THE INSTRUCTIONS ACTUALLY SUGGEST CLIPPING THE ALARM WITH ELECTRICAL WIRE TO YOUR CHILD'S SHIRT COLLAR! IT EVEN COMES WITH A LITTLE CLIP FOR THIS PURPOSE. Summary... This will not prevent bed wetting. The design actually requires bed wetting (or sweating, or drooling, etc.) to function. If anything the slightest moisture will set off the alarm and cause the entire household to wet the bed. At least then the child won't feel so bad about it. I can't imagine who thought it was a good idea to attach an electrical cord to a child's shirt collar (neck) at night. Yes...it was returned!

This alarm is a life changer!
My 8 year old was wetting the bed nightly. He’s a very heavy sleeper, most nights he would sleep through his bed wetting, which created morning laundry and baths in the middle of the already chaotic mornings. If he did wake in the middle of the night inevitably it was at 2am or 3am, which meant laundry and changing sheets in the wee hours of the morning. This alarm changed all that! It did take about a month to work for us, but my son eventually started waking up as soon as the alarm went off and eventually he stopped wetting the bed. It’s been an absolute game changer in my house. It does make a crinkly sound, so we had to get used to that & it only comes with one cover, but the company will send you more (for a fee, which is super reasonable) if you call them. The only other thing to be mindful of is that the alarm is really sensitive to any moisture, so if you have a sweaty sleeper it’s going to go off. There have been several nights it went off because my son was sweating in his sleep. We just turned off the alarm and it encouraged him to get out of bed to use the bathroom. I would also suggest purchasing hospital grade chucks to go under the alarm. Their absorbent pads (I found them on Amazon) that can go under the alarm, that way when/if your kiddo has an accident you don’t have to strip the mattress cover off the bed. I’d give this thing 10 stars if I could - worth every cent I spent on it!
