Works great. One word of caution
Works great. One word of caution, do NOT place these in the dish washer, the aluminum construction is polished, not plated or anodized so they are not able to withstand harsh detergents without oxidizing. Tankfully this is a set of 3, so only 1 was effected, which did polish back up with just a cotton cloth & canola oil after a few size minutes of rubbing & polishing it.Actual size of the scoops is perfect. I use all 3 of them frequently. The spring release does well to eject the falafel without effort. Very happy with the product overall. I plan to order another set for a friend as a gift soon.

Recmmended....With Reservations
Having lived in Israel, the "Pal-Ed: is the same Falafel scoop used by home cooks and Falafel shops throughout the country. These scoops do the job very nicely and are extremely popular, BUT...they are inexpensive aluminum, and not a high quality kitchen tool. Likely, they will not withstand many years of hard use, or the demands of a restaurant kitchen. That being said, I have one of these which I brought from Israel, and after 2 years of steady use, the scoop is still going strong. The bowls can collect water and particles in the reservoir, so a careful cleaning and shaking out of excess water from the bowl will help ensure cleanliness. This set of 3 scoops offers a nice variety of sizes (the large is quite large) and they work well. I would give them "5-stars" for the way they do the job, but "2-stars" for quality of construction.

Works quite well.
I'm new to falafel making and after making several batches by hand, I thought I would try these out. These scoops make forming them very easy and each ball/patty takes less than half the time than forming them by hand. Yes, the difference isn't a big deal but making sure they are uniform in size so they all cook the same is a big deal to me. The smallest scoop is about as big around as nickel, the medium about as round as a golf ball and the large is about half again as big. That should give you some idea of the sizes. For dinner, I used the large and it worked out great.

I don’t recommend them at all unless they won’t rust and becom black cheap metal
They leave a black oiled color on your hand while using them and it doesn’t go even if you wash them. The shiny silver color went away and became to be almost dark black or blue and the had developed bad rust on the screw and spring with white dots on the handle. I bought this item before and I also told friends to by it gifted them to one of my friends, but it wasn’t as bad as this time.

Its a good product, but not professional quality
The product is good, especially compared to the cheap tin found in many middle eastern markets around here, but I was hoping for better quality. I would not call this "professional" quality. It appears to be aluminum and is not smooth. Water gets trapped in the "bowl" between the bottom of the scoop and the flat piece that moves when you engage the spring loaded hinge on the side of the handle. You can see into the handle at the hinge and there is a small spring there. I am concerned that it will rust. Saying it is professional, I would expect you could put them in the dishwasher. However, that ended up to be a mistake because soap & water became trapped in the "bowl" area described above. I also think it probably made its way into the hole in the handle as well.It did take a while to get here from Israel. I purchased the "extra large" one in the states and it arrived very quickly. It was the exact same product. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004UYXQKS/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_3

They worked great! I used them for something different
They worked great! I used them for something different. I used the middle size one for making fruitcake cookies to put in gift boxes. The scoop made it possible to make a nice size cookie all the same size to fit into gift tins and boxes. I then used the smallest one to make truffles and no cook candies. The best of all the middle one made my crisp oatmeal cookie just the right size. Total cookies made were 18 dozen fruitcake cookies 21 dozen oatmeal cookies, 2 dozen choclate oatmeal truffles. Large family visiting during Christmas!
