Dear Simon Thank you for your question about our 100% Natural Excipients triple magnesium formula. To help answer your question we need to describe how we make Magnesium supplements. Magnesium is not available as a single element to consume on it's own, it either comes coupled with oxide as 'Magnesium oxide' or to amino acids such as 'Magnesium citrate'. We therefore include 667mg of Magnesium citrate per serving, of which, 200mg is elemental magnesium (and respectively 500mg/100mg for magnesium taurinate and 313mg/100mg for magnesium glycinate). The total amount of elemental magnesium is then 400mg per serving. We specifically chose not to use magnesium oxide in our formula despite a theoretical higher elemental magnesium amount as it is not absorbed well by the body, compared to the 3 type of magnesium we selected.
