HDMI Media Player, Black Mini 1080p Full-HD Ultra HDMI Digital Media Player for -MKV/RM- HDD USB Drives and SD Cards

This is a very handy little set top box device that lets you play downloaded media content from your phone, tablet, or PC. It will play music mp3s, it will play movie or video mp4 and mkv files. (And other formats like 3gp, etc.) It will also display your jpeg photos you take on your phone or even your premium digital camera. It will do this all on your TV and home theater receiver. (If you want hifi quality sound with your videos and music.) Only thing is, you need to know what this thing will and won't do. Firstly I will mention my complaint... This device was intended for use in UK or country using HDMI standard with 50hz. But America uses 60hz HDMI frequency. So the device defaults to 50hz for UK. So when you hook up your American TV to it. It will automatically detect it and work fine. But later if you happen to change video output either in settings or the remote by accidentally hitting one of those video output buttons, you will be left with a black screen with no way to get back even if you press HDMI button. Because it then just defaults to 50hz and not 60hz output. Now if you have this device hooked up via the red white and yellow rca cables, there will be no issue like this. But video quality will only be good as a high end vcr. But it will still look great. People that have to have the highest res images will want the HDMI hookup. I myself am not that finicky. But anyway, to resolve the issue with the black screen after changing video input (HDMI) you have to disconnect power source and reconnect to reset it and then it will redetect the TV. It is in settings a switch for on or off auto detect HDMI but does not work! So that sucks. They need to fix that. And another problem people are having is the device not playing videos. There is a strange thing about this device in which it will only play vids saved in FAT32 format on your sd card slot. It will NOT play videos saved on exfat format (SD card slot). No matter what card you use except sdhc cards. This is a complicated thing and not for the lay person. But I do have the answer. Use only 32gb or less sd cards. They are the sdhc standard and only save in FAT32. So vids saved on this size card will play fine. If you use a 64gb or higher sd card, it can be used. But you have to do the following... Buy a sd card reader. (It is a small thumb drive looking device that has an SD card slot on the side.) And insert your sdxc card in it and then the reader into the USB port of your media player. Works fine! I have used 256gb micro SD cards (in an SD card adapter) and it plays my exfat format storage just fine but only in the USB port (for the thumb drive). I don't know why it will accept exfat storage on the USB port but not the SD card slot. I learned this from a lot of trial and error. So I am giving sound advice on this I promise. But if you want to chock a bunch of movies on this micro DVR haha and have all your ripped and bootleg movies at your fingertips and discard your dvd player, this is the way to go and I love it. So I give this device 5 stars despite the flaws. All you need to do to play tons of movies worry free, is buy a nice large SanDisk Cruiser Glide thumb drive (128 or 256 gigs) and fill it with your media either with a PC or use an otg cable connected to your phone or tablet. (An otg cable is a short micro USB plug on one end and big USB standard female Jack on other end) effectively making your phone's charging port a real USB port. (Phone must have ability to move media via the charging port and some low end phones do not allow this.) Then you can move your downloaded content to a thumb drive. Hope this info helps. I just wanted to help the lay person who knows little about this alternative way of enjoying tv and music. 😎

This thing is EXACTLY what I needed. At first I was concerned with it only having 4gb of ram but thats more than enough because there is no bloated operating system!!! Its very snappy and the remote works great. Its just a basic media player operating system! Which is exactly what I needed. There is no blue tooth, web browser or wifi its just HDMI plug in and access files through usb or SD card. You can connect speakers through the aux port. Which is exactly what I needed for my guest bedroom. I bought a computer monitor and needed something that could play movies, tv shows via media player but could also connect external speakers. Dont plug in speaker power though the device though, you will need to plug in speakers (if needed) to wall outlet. Otherwise you will have reverb and the speakers will not work. Other than that the device is small, metal and very clean looking. I will be buying some double sided Velcro for it though because it is relatively light in weight.

Very nice and small. Works great for me. I like the simple interface. The downside is that you have to use the remote, so if you take it places like I do, if you forget the remote you are dead in the water. If there was a phone app or dedicated buttons on the unit itself it would be much better.

I usually wait a little while to write a review so I can give good feedback. In this case I've had this device a little under a month and it's been used daily. I bought two, one for the living room and one for the bedroom. Bedroom device quit working after two days and was quickly replaced by Amazon. Installation was a little weird because it took a little while to sync up with the tv. For five or six minutes I thought it wasn't working at all. But then it just kicked in and now starts immediately, it loads very quickly, much faster than our roku. Overall I am very pleased. Husband loves his DVD collection but it's just collecting dust because getting up and changing disks is a pain. So for Christmas I ripped his entire collection and loaded it on a external hard drive. Plugged the media player into the external hard drive and bam he has access to all his movies and shows. The interface is so easy to understand that my husband has no trouble with it. Well worth the money! And I was a total Christmas hero for pretty cheap.

Exactly what I wanted for RV - plays .MKV files (offline) that I ripped myself. No issues - you can select multiple audio tracks and also closed captioning. Works fine with 500GB SSD with Windows 10 folder structure. Yes it's a little spartan for features but does exactly what I needed. *EDIT 6.1.2025* We bought this for our camper - to be able to watch kids movies if it's raining. Sadly, any movie > 35 min (or so) will have the video and audio go out of synch about 3 seconds. This makes it unbearable to watch. I tried multiple filesystems (exFAT and NTFS) as well as multiple forms of media (USB drives, SSDs). All do exactly the same thing. Trying to get it replaced/refunded from AGPTEK. We shall see. *EDIT 6.12.2025* AGPtek has yet to respond. Do your research. Start with their website. I would avoid this brand. *EDIT 7.1.2025* To their credit, AGPtek has responded. I sent them a file which would not play (a 5GB DVD rip of the movie "300" in MKV form). They confirmed my file could not be decoded by this player and suggested that I return the player and buy something else. 2 things: 1) The player plays the file fine for the first 35 minutes 2) Amazon will not allow for return at this point I've asked AGPtek what to do. No response. If you have MKV files > 35 minutes long, don't buy this player. It does not work.

My main reason for wanting a media player is for eight channel flac file support and this one has that. My old player finally gave up the ghost. Thank goodness because it was a finicky complicated little beast. I just wanted it to loop my library of music files and it was always a PITA. I powered this one up, selected my music folder and started playing music. Could not have been simpler. Selecting a single track, looping it or looping them all is super easy. I plugged the HDMI cable from the media player into my stereo and another HDMI cable from the stereo to a little seven inch screen. Then I just plug a USB drive into the media player and play my music. Works great!

I'll list my positives and negatives below in bullet format, with final thoughts underneath. Positives: -My 2TB and 4TB USB 3.0 hard drives work perfectly. -The remote is great quality, and not overpopulated with a million buttons (requires 2 AAA batteries/not included). The volume control is specific to the player itself and doesn't connect to the tv's main volume control - but if you set your tv up to your preferred level, you can lower the volume all the way down to mute through the player, then back up as you please, so you don't have to use both remotes. The sensor on the player also picks up the remote very well. -You can edit the size of the subtitles very easily. They can get very very large which is nice for those with less clear vision. -Loads all of my video files correctly (mkv/mp4/avi), unlike my blu-ray player with a USB port that claimed it read all those files as well, but actually only read mp4 (sometimes). -The menu is snappy and clicking around/navigating files is quick and easy compared to my semi-dated smart tv which can get laggy or be a bit unresponsive. Some people have claimed the player is a bit slow. The only time I've noticed slow speeds is when I click on a movie. It takes a few seconds to load and start a movie, but that's not an issue for me. It's a $40 player - it's not going to load a movie immediately like a desktop with a brand-new high-end processor. When the movie plays, it plays without any lag and also has no issues with fast forwarding or rewinding. It also pauses and plays instantly without delay. Negatives: -Each video file requires its own folder. So, if you have an entire season of a show in one folder, you need to further break it down and give each episode its own folder, otherwise the player will likely glitch and boot you back to the main menu. Sometimes they will pull up, but usually it will glitch out. -There's a weird audio glitch where the video is delayed, and the audio is ahead of what's actually going on. The audio issues seem to mostly affect my anime shows/movies. Maybe something about having multiple subtitle and audio languages makes it load wierd? I've been able to fix this issue by giving each episode its own folder as stated before. -Subtitles don't always load correctly if there are too many options (sometimes not at all). Have not found a work around for this issue. It will only load whatever the first subtitle loaded to video is. You cannot turn the subtitles off, and you cannot switch to any other languages loaded to the video. -Video quality is nice at 1080p, though I wish it could reach 4K. Summary: 3/5 -Subtitle issues (which seem to affect audio sometimes) -Return to main menu glitch (each video file requiring its own independent folder) -No 4K support My biggest issue is the subtitle problem, as there is no work around. It's especially frustrating with anime videos that have multiple audio languages and subtitle languages. It will load to the secondary audio language, but you cannot change your subtitles to match. It's also frustrating to have to make separate folders for each episode of my TV series. This is best for people who want to watch movies without subtitles, or with your desired subtitle language attached to the video file in front of any other subtitle languages. If that's all you need this for, this will be the perfect product for you. Would happily buy an updated version of this product with fixes to the issues above.

Overall this is a good media player. I have a 64 gig micro SD card in it with about 6 hours worth of short videos of about 1 minute each roughly, & some others up to 35 minutes long on it. All mp4 video formats. There is a few of the 20 to 35 minute videos that glitch by freezing & slowly stuttering & playing it's way through the video.. Every time those videos pop up. You think the thing would realize that it can't play the video, but Noooo it just chokes it's way through them. Very annoying 😑
