Science of Strength Training: Understand the anatomy and physiology to transform your body (The Science of Fitness) Review: Superb Reference for the How & Why Behind Strength Training - Vividly visual with clear descriptions of complex concepts, structures, and systems at work when working muscles. Following a strength training program @ the back & feeling it. Might mess with the aesthetic of the book series, but side tabs to reference the exercises would be the only improvement. Recommend customers spring for spiral-bound 🌀 esp if using for reference material or for looping exercises for workout. Review: Awesome Resource - Great book! This book was easy to follow and super informative. The pictures were descriptive and explanations are clear. If you are new to strength training or a veteran, this book is a great tool. Worth the money!

Comprehensive Strength Training Book
I bought 2 other books on strength training but found them lacking--one focused mainly on squats, the other had beautiful photos but nothing about how often to train, how to tell whether you are injured or just sore, what your diet should be, etc. The Science of Strength Training has it all. The color photos show muscles, tendons, bones, etc. in detail. They also show how your muscles change with training, which muscles are worked on which exercise, and how to train for strength versus build. I like this book so much I also bought one for my sister and one for a friend. My fencing coach has also ordered one to help him work with his students. The book is not perfect, I think the section on diet focuses too much on carb, and there's an error on page 9 (the pictures on endomorph and mesomorph body shape do not make sense to me. I think they should be switched). But these are minor problems for such a comprehensive book. Buy this one and chances are you won't need to buy another.

deadlift vs squat
Overall the book is good. There is one feedback raised in another review - The deadlift, the squat and the bench for example are *all* illustrated incorrectly. Page 87 "Bend your knees until your things are parallel to the floor" - not sure if that is a squat or a deadlift.

Fantastic book! I’m a beginner and it is answering all my questions and saving me from hours of googling. Love the images and the book is well written. Would recommend to anyone looking to expand their knowledge or start exercising for longevity.

The one and all book for anatomy of strength training!
Amazing writing and illustrations! Informations are so easy to digest and I feel everything important is covered. As graphic designer and I geek out on books that are well designed and put together and honestly this one might be the best designed book I ever seen when you consider how good writing, designs and illustrations are. Everyone interested in strength training should have the book no matter level you are at.

This book tells you the science behind strength training, and with the knowledge I started training much better than before. It even gives you a workout plan for different goals and technique behind every exercise 👍 The only issue for me is that there are nearly no exercises that you could do without equipment.
