Within a day of having my Vantrue set to motion parking mode it has fully drained my battery to the point that my lights can’t even turn on. Thoughts?

In my experience - there's no problem with car battery, as long as the engine is started for a few minutes once a day. Otherwise - bad news. Cutoff at 11.6V is unacceptable - battery's dead by then. So after having 2 Vantrue N4's in my two cars, and two hardwire kits - I have to replace one of the kits with generic kit that has 4 voltage cutoff settings, b/c only one out of two cars is driven regularly. Really wish Vantrue would ramp up their game on their kit... Even though generic kit I got is doing its job, and is cutting dashcam off at 12.2V as set, it confuses the camera, and now and then camera can't use SD-card anymore and demands re-formatting...

The description promotes theft protection w/ the 24 hour park feature. How is that possible when all footage is local stored? s

You are absolutely correct! That protection is only valid if the thief/cop doesn’t take the unit! I have asked Vantrue if they had plans to develop a model with Wi-fi that could transmit to your phone. I was told they were working on it. Thinking of it now though, it also would need to have cloud storage as well. With that said, the unit still records all incidents where the unit remains intact in the vehicle 24/7. I have looked at the very few offerings out there that do have wi-fi capability, but other that that one feature, they ALL appear to fall short of this unit in ALL other categories in my opinion, which is why I went with this unit. I’m VERY pleased with it!

What fuse to put on tacoma

It comes with a fuse for the camera so install it in a fuse position that is low priority. Something like a aux, cigarette lighter etc. If you drive your car a lot every day then you can use it in a spot that always has power so you can monitor when parked. I did so for a while but I don't drive a lot and my battery was getting drained to low.

A must, for round the clock protection

I have installed the Vantrue V5 4 channel Dashcam by myself. But latter ordered the Kit to ensure not stop coverage. The kit came is a sturdy packing. The guide for installing makes it easy to do it by yourself, After installation, the camera is working when the vehicle is idle.
