Product Pros -- Product is of very nice quality -- there are no burrs, chinks, or dents, the product is all metal, the handles are textured so they don't slip in wet hands, they feel good in the hand, and the sculpting tool heads on these double-ended tools are perfect for finer, detailed clay work. The sculpting tips are well secured to the handle so they're not going to come loose during use.Amazon Packaging Department Cons (Incomplete Set) -- I received only 3 out of 4 of the tools in this four piece set and had to leave the following comment for the packaging department. Usually, Amazon does an excellent job at packaging but not this time. I include my comment here as well so if anyone else gets this set, but it's missing a tool and came in a carelessly prepared package, they may be able to surmise if Amazon did not resolve the very same packaging department lapses or if perhaps there are other issues behind it. Here's the comment:Problem: Incomplete SetMailing envelope arrived completely sealed and without any holes or gaps but without the square-ended tool of this set. That means I received only three (3) out of the four (4) tools in this set. To be clear, the 4 tool ends are shaped like an open teardrop, circle, triangle, and square -- I'm missing the square-ended tool. It should've been obvious that a tool was missing by the empty slot in the tool sleeve. There are four slots in the tool set sleeve for the four tools.Resolution:Send me the missing square shape ended tool from this set; I've already paid for it.Where the Error Lies:This is clearly an Amazon packaging department error. The tools were rolling loose within an overly large mailing envelope. The tools' plastic sleeve is open on one end by design and measures 3.25 inches wide by by 8 inches long. The floppy mailing envelope measures 11 1/2 inches wide by 15 inches long.Prevention1. The tools inside their plastic sleeve should've been counted and then wrapped well to prevent tool loss.2. The wrapped tool sleeve should have been placed into an appropriately sized and prepared (bubble wrap, etc.) box to prevent tool damage.Karen Scofield (the tools are for me but were ordered through my husband's account).

I recently started using much harder sculpting materials (Cx5, Castilene), that require loop tools that allow for much more pressure to be exerted.The regular loop tools are either far too weak to withstand the pressure it needs to cut into these materials, or they are too flexible and warp easily when trying to carve into the clay. If sturdy enough, the loop and ribbon tools I have are far too big.These tools, however, are magnificent. They are sturdy and won't give way. They can be heated over an open flame, seeing as they are completely made of metal.While they are not your millimeter-exact tools, all of them have a very sharp edge that allows for very precise carving. I took some close-up images that hopefully show this better than the product images. They are exactly what I was looking for, since so far I just have the regular carvers. These tools combine the sturdiness of my metal tools with the precision and flexibility in sculpting that my regular loop tools offer.I would recommend these tools to anyone wanting to sculpt in harder materials than regular oil-based or water based clays.

The tools are very solid and well sized. I thought the thicker edges on them would cause issue, but they work well and cut pretty smooth. My only complaint is that one (the tear drop shape) was not sharpened and wouldn't carve. My partner sharpened it for me, and it works fine now. The larger end of the circle also has a blemish that leaves a line in the clay, but not a big issue. Overall the tools are very sturdy and precise. I would recommend them for sure.

These are one of those tool sets that I wish I'd had 40 years ago, and that I look forward to using for a long time. Not perfect, but much better than I'd expected for the remarkably low price. They appear to be hand forged, ground, and polished. Although there are some rough spots and imperfections on the inside surfaces, and the smaller circle turned out a little lopsided, but there are two of each shape (small and larger circle, spade, triangle, and square. The outer edges all have a mirror polish and they are all tapered to a sharp edge on one side, so they should cut smooth.

I ordered this set for pumpkin carving, and only three of the pieces came. I contacted the company that makes this set, and they immediately felt with the issue and sent me the missing piece. Besides the initial missing piece, these are great tools. They are sturdy and sharp (although a bit on the small side) and I would definitely recommend this product.

These tools are thicker than most other standard pottery tools. Heavy necks that won't bend. Remind me of the weight and quality of dental tools. Have been using on stoneware and different red clays with amazing results. Perfect for scraping off excess glaze. Staying sharp. 8 sized ends - 4 shapes. Quickly becoming the first carving tools I reach for... Would re-purchase in a heartbeat but I expect they will remain useful for a long time before replacement due to wear and tear

I love these clay tools, they have not rusted at all and have a good feel and weight to them for working with, I have had them for some years now and am still satisfied with them.

They scrape with a sharp blade and are of two sizes of four different shapes. Great for carving the undersides of a ring pattern. Small enough to get into tight areas.
