perfect size for my front pocket. spine is a full 7mm thick, so strong enough to carry in front pocket without worrying. i have pretty long hair that is straight and very fine. this comb glides through without snagging even if my hair is tangled up from keeping it tied up with a scrunchy all day. plastic combs ALWAYS pulled out a few hairs sometimes pulled out a lot. i have not seen one single hair on this comb in a week and a half of combing several times a day. NOT ONE. feels nice in the hand, looks really nice (the translucent nature of the horn material gives the comb a luminous quality in strong light), and the craftsmanship is close to perfect with no flaws. i had been eyeballing horn combs in a high dollar specialty tool catalog that i won't name, but their price kept me from taking the plunge for years. found these on Amazon and felt the price was worth the gamble. i am so glad i did, i will never use a plastic comb again. i didn't even know how much plastic combs suck till i got this. i probably shouldn't be this happy about a mundane product purchase but i am. :)

I bought this so that I could comb out my hair at work after taking off my winter hats and whatnot. Or summer hats. I love hats. Static free, goes smoothly through my hair, the teeth are not sharp but they are pointy enough to give a nice scalp massage like a good comb should. And it doesn't smell. (Just in case you were wondering.) I used mine through last summer and LOVED it. Then I had to move everything around in my office and now I can't figure out where I put it. I brought in another comb but I like this one better and I've missed it all winter, so I've finally ordered another and can't wait until it arrives.

I really like my little comb!! I have thyroid issues and my hair sheds and looks frizzy and has identity texture issues...it’s always blah! After I wash it, it wants to be coiled, frizzy and the next day is oily and flat as a board. I wanted to take my time to write this review. I’ve used my comb everyday for a month. I like the way it massages my scalp. I’m becoming addicted to combing my hair! Very relaxin’. It’s like a mini plow for frizziness. My hair hasn’t been shedding besides 1-2 hairs here and there. When I used my wet brush it was hands full of hair coming out of my scalp (wet brush went bye, bye last week) Around my hairline I’m actually starting to get baby hair growth!! -if you have thyroid issues, we’re all too familiar with residing hairlines. I love my mini horn comb... it’s easy to maintain. I clean it with a moist face cloth, then I use 1-3 drops of lavender essential oil to moisturize the horn material.. and it’s ready to take care of me. I keep it in my purse all the time. I made a velvet pouch for it. Well, made sturdy and the tines are well crafted for my needs. I have medium thick hair and it’s about 1.5 inches past my shoulders. I’m getting compliments on how shiny my hair is now. And I haven’t had the sudden urge to cut it at all since I got my comb. Even my cat likes it when I comb her with it.

I have hair that starts straight, then gets wavy and then turns into massive rings of Kraken tentacles that break every brush i have purchased. I'm serious. My hair is a dangerous beast and it had to be stopped.... before it claimed another victim. Then, I found this. I was just looking for a strong brush not made of plastic. But, as I read the reviews, I saw that it had the strength to tame an Alaskan mans wild beard. "Well now," I said to myself. "That is a very tough job." So, I ordered this comb. I honestly had my doubts, I figured I would have to cut it out of my hair. It arrived quickly, and IT IS AMAZING! I love it and I am buying more. No more staticy hair, gentle on tangles and goes through soft and smooth, it doesn't scratch up your scalp like other combs do. Buy it. You wont regret it.

Bad quality, easy to break

I love horn combs ever since I bought one from a street vendor in Paris years ago. They are not easy to find here so I was thrilled to find Amazon carried them. They don't scratch your scalp with sharp teeth, don't pull out hair, and make detangling even thick curly hair a breeze (my granddaughter's hair). My own hair falls out easily & is frizzy & staticky after washing (I have an autoimmune disorder and on several meds which can cause alopecia). Using this comb has greatly ameliorated these problems. Plus it feels so luxurious in the hand!! I now carry mini-versions of the comb in my purse/wallet/etc. They are sturdy and don't take up much space. I've noticed several inquiries re: odors on the comb. Horn combs generally don't have odors per se, since horn is made of keratin, also a component of natural hair. I think what ppl are referring to is wooden combs made of green sandalwood - the wood has a distinct but not-too-strong scent (I like wood combs from China too & the scent is plesant to me). The horn combs do not have this property, so not to worry). Lastly, I love the fact that I am getting an item which is handcrafted in China, an ancient yet useful art form. I like to think I am supporting the people, not some giant conglomerate.

This had very sharp edges where the teeth meet the base which cut and pulled my beard hair right out. I will be returning this considering I csnt find a way to smooth them all out. might be good for head hair though. Just not good for your face
