can it measure small scale likes 1-3gm accurately ?

Not in my case. I added 12g of coffee beans, then was adding only 2-3 beans at a time (which should be 1-2g) to get to 15g, and it wasn't changing the display. I had at some point gone to 20g and it was still showing 12g.

Does is measure in decimals too or just whole numbers?

The only measurement that doesn't measure in decimals is the grams. The oz, kg, ml do.

Anyone know how to remove the plastic on top of the scale? The plastic is so thin, it's hard to remove.

Try either alcohol or an oil based remover. Orange spray.

Do I need to calibrate the scale before use? I understand pressing the 'Tare' function to account for the container or dish but weight seems to be off

No calibration is needed. Check units (right side). I’ve only noticed inconsistent weights if I go too fast- also the buttons are quite sensitive if I happen to brush or press one while shifting the container I’m using. That’s all I know.

Good price for good capabilities. I only need to weight small items, so the compact size works.

Small compact and easy to use. The LED readout can be adjusted to show measurements in your preferred measurement system ( i.e., lbs, ounces, or grams, Kilos). The battery is a flat battery the size of a nickle or a penny. These types of batteries can be pricier. For now, I'll assume this will last a long time. The small surface size of this scale, fits my limited kitchen counter space, and it works for the small items I need to weight such as the weight of one cabbage so that I can calculate the amount of salt to use to ferment it. I'm not sure how well this will work if you needed to weight a bag of apples, or a whole turkey.
