I admit it; I was skeptical. I've tried a number of sun shades over the years, of various styles and price points. They were all either too large, too small, wouldn't stay unfolded, wouldn't stay folded (or were impossible to re-fold once they were deployed), or took up the entire back seat when they weren't in use. No such problems with this one. If you can open an umbrella, you can deploy this sun screen. It was advertised as fitting my car, and it fits it like it was standard equipment. The top edge is clearly labeled, and extends above the windshield only just enough to be held in place by the visors without bowing or rumpling the sunscreen or leaving the visor hanging down to hit my head on when entering the car. It completely covers the entire area of the windshield, and I am convinced that the car was noticeably cooler than it would have been with my previous item. It collapses quickly, smoothly, and efficiently and takes up no more storage space than a folding mini-umbrella. If they made a similar product that could be easily used in the back window, I would buy it without hesitation.

Great until it broke after about a year of use. Easy to put up, but once it breaks it’s pretty flimsy and useless. Easy to store, and keeps heat out pretty well. You get what you pay for.

Okay! That didn't last, at all. Only a few days of trying to use this and I already gave up on it. After use number two, or three, I noticed one of the metal arms pierce straight through the fabric. The manufacturer did not even bother to round out the edges of the metal supporting rods, not even a rubber softened tip! Just roughly cut and easily cuts through fabrics. My car was said to fit this, and I tried both options. It simply isn't worth it. Starting off, I like the design so far. Assuming you wrap it well enough, this is a perfect little device to use in the summer, but pack in your side-door storage. Of course, assuming it is big enough. Do double check your windshield size though, I made the mistake of allowing Amazon's system to filter results without double checking, and it pointed to me to a large. This was just slightly too big to the point of being useless, so I was forced to return the large and try the medium. I own a 2013 Lexus GS350. The medium size fit is good. Not perfect so there will be some gaps, but good. My primary reason to use this is not just to make the interior cooler as I believe anything but the AC will just be fighting a losing battle, but actually to keep the steering wheel from becoming searing hot. My trim came with a wooden finish steering wheel, and I quite enjoy how it feels on my hands so a steering wheel cover was not an option. If you are looking for a perfect fit you might want another solution, but if not, give it a try.

I bought this product because it seemed like it would be space saving/take up less room than a folding shade. It does use less space, but there are some drawbacks. PROS- It folds to the size of a small umbrella. For the most part, it does block the sun. CONS- It doesn't have a cutout to accommodate the rear-view mirror...it mashes up against the rear-view mirror and you have to adjust your mirror after you use it. Every friggin time. It has weird metal edges that I guess are supposed to be bent to fit the windshield corners...the issue is, every time you fold up the shade, it crumples these edges and makes them wavy/unable to fit the corners of the windshield. It hasn't broke yet, but it feels quite flimsy. It smells weird. My final thoughts- unless you drive a very small car that's cramped for space, just buy a folding shade...it'll be cheaper and less frustrating.

Like how the folded umbrella fits snugly into the driver's side pocket. But not a great fit for a 2019 Crosstrek as you can see in the photo.
