Shift: A Werewolf Shifter Romance

Starts out well BUT...
The start of the novel gripped me. Heroine is a focused, cat loving, attorney about to be promoted despite ongoing sexual harrasment in a somewhat misogynistic firm. Takes a weekend away in a cabin and gets bitten by a rogue werewolf. Sounds good so far, right?Unhappily, for the reader at least, the heroine is immediately adopted into the world's most boring werewolf pack by her 'fated mate'. There is a lot of eating. It is described in detail. As are the girl talks. The other girl talks. The giggling, blushing, and let's have yet another meal described in detail talks. Even the romance is boring. There is never any doubt or question about the whole 'fated mate' trope. To make matters worse, the very, very little, and believe me, you will be searching for it, storyline that there is isn't even resolved.Gave it two stars rather than one because 1) it was free, and 2) the start was good at least. Overall, a painful read.

Oh dear. Virtually no story other than girl gets bitten turns into a werewolf and is the alphas mate. That is literally it. The FMC is just gushing and annoying. The alpha is just limp and the romance is long, drawn out and luke warm. What little story there is just limps along. Just plain boring. No one who has ever read a good werewolf book could ever give this five stars. I couldn't wait for it to end. Book too long and story too short!!

Boring
Skipped a number of pages and it didn't feel like I'd missed out on any of the storyline one bit. I assume the author is american going by the grammar. It was a non descript read...just boring, so many opportunities missed with the characters to give them more depth, style and fun. Stuck with it until the end thought it had to get better with all the five star rating, but it just didn't maybe my standards/expectations are bit higher. And the ending was a total let down, wasn't even a cliff hanger. I won't be reading the next book in series.

Just like it did me, this will leave you begging for more....
The way that Heather paints pictures in your mind with her amazing words, twisting and turning them into one hell of a story. This book had me turning pages, almost faster than i could keep up with....There is absolutely nothing i didn't enjoy about this book, from the opening courtroom scene where we first meet Elizabeth. Through the complicated and soul changing meeting of Abey and the pack. Then to many life changing realizations which took El down this new path in her life. This was most certainly one of those books which has you guessing (wrongly) every twist, finding yourself needing to continue, becoming emotionally involved with the characters, hoping and praying that they get the happy ending you are craving for them! Its an Original, well written, feel-good, page turning, supernatural Love Story which will, just like it did me, leave you begging for more....Book 2 Please. Now :)

Okay
Told from Elizabeth's POV, who portrays as a strong women. She's a human who is bitten whilst on a weekend away. Abrahams pack saves her from potentially getting murdered by a serial killer. Abraham and Elizabeth are fated mates but keeps many secrets from her including what may happen to a bitten human on the first shift. The two main characters were well developed but other characters were not. The storyline is weak with lots of holes in it. It seemed to evolve around the relationship between the two instead of what the story was about. Elizabeth is very annoying, who has plenty of self pity for herself but there is no explanations given as to why she's like this as obviously something happened in her past. On her transformation to a wolf, it all goes as you would expect. I won't be reading the next book in the trilogy as although I really did like the chemistry between the two the story is simply 'flat'.

When Elizabeth is rescued by a handsome stranger name Abraham her whole life is turned upside down forever. Its been awhile since I've read a werewolf book as I started to find them a bit all the same. This book, however, had me totally hooked from the very beginning. I couldn't put it down, fantastically written with wonderful characters and overall brilliantly written.Be prepared to be up all night when reading this book, because I know I was. It kept me on the edge of my seat desperate to know what was going to happen next. I was also desperate to know if Elizabeth and Abraham were going to end up together and if Elizabeth could survive the change.I cannot wait to read the rest of the series, I will most definitely be reading the next book and anything else Heather MacKinnon brings out. Another author and series that have found their way into my favourites category for 2018.Thank You to the author for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Rating - Five out of Five StarsWould I Read Again? - YesWould I Recommend? - YesWould I read other books by the same author? - YesReviews for this book can be found on:Amazon under Lu's ReviewsGoodreads,Net Galley (If a NetGalley Book)My Blogs at readingbeyondobsessionlusreviewsblog.wordpressSmashWords (LusReviews)Barns & Noble (Lus-Reviews)Links to this review can be found at:Twitter: @lusreviewsFacebook: @lusreviewsInstagram: lusreview
