Great autobiographical film of one of Tex-Mex great singers. Her life, family, music career and ultimately her death! Recommended.

Such a great movie

Great movie

This movie was all happy if there was no ending shot. I enjoyed the whole 2 hours watching Selena Quintanilla Perez's life full of energy and happpy moments she had. She was a happy girl who lived for only 23 years as a popular singer in America. Yes it is a real story and they made it into a movie. She is a Mexican-American girl who was born in Texas. Her father saw her singing when she was a child and begin to make her sing in public and end up with making her a latin singer with the band that include some of her brothers and sisters in the band. He wanted her to sing in Spanish so he taught her Spanish. Most of the moments are filled with her energetic singing moments and her happy laughers with her colleagues, meeting this beautiful guitarist guy whom she madly falls in love with right away. That was the only tension in this movie-her and her father. But it was not brutal or a long pain. Her father at the beginning strongly resist their relationship and tried to tear them apart, but when they got married secretly, he let the gutarist guy in and begins to understand their love. He was not that stubborn guy after all. But it was the woman whom all the family believed who happens to run the big hair dress shop that stole a big money and when the family found that out, she was panicked and ends up with killing the Selena with the gun. She just finish recording a new record with English for the first time and about to be the next Gloria Estefan and she was only 23 by then. During watching the movie, I was kind of relaxed and happy seeing Jennifer Lopez's happy face. She was a delightful, energetic woman in this movie and it is hard not to love her charactor. I didn't knew the singer very well since she was only famous at the Latin chart but her songs appeared in this movie seems very good and you should listen to them as well. From [...]

Words cannot describe how I felt at the end of this movie. Before watching it I had not heard about Selena or her style of music, after the movie I wanted to know everything about her and hear all of her music. It'll make you laugh, cry and sing but it will also give you the opportunity to have insight into one of the most amazing singers of the 20th Century. In 1995 Selena was taken from us tragically but her spirit still live on in this wonderful film. Jennifer Lopez shines as the lead, moreso than she does in her later movies. Its an uplifting story of a woman who was achieving her dreams until she was taken away from us... have the tissues handy.
