This is the Rolls-Royce of lanterns. I’d give it a 9.8/10 score. It is expensive but it can do almost anything up to 800 lumens in a compact package. It is well built but fairly heavy for its size. It can be used as a power bank. It can change tint from soft white to cool white. If I could suggest three small improvements: (1) allow it to turn off without loosening the base; (2) add a magnetic base; and (3) add an inexpensive plastic base accessory that the unit can slide into to provide more stability. Then it would be a 10/10.

This lantern is fantastic in so many different scenarios with all of its settings. I’ve used it in several blackouts and it gives off so much light while being nice and warm and not blinding. It’s hard to find a light that strikes that balance. I’ve also used it in the hospital setting when we had a blackout and being a night nurse, it was nice being able to adjust the lighting to dim or absolutely bright when I needed to let patients sleep or needed clear light to work. Great for camping as well. The build quality is fantastic and being able to use it is a bonus. Battery life is great as well. 10/10. Just bought my second one.

I wanted an 18650 battery driven lantern to go with our camping supplies so that I could swap batteries between our flashlights and lanterns. Some online research led me to the Sofirn BLF and I'm very glad that it did. The last time I went camping we were still using gas and halogen lanterns, so this thing blew my mind. I absolutely love everything about it:- aluminum body- adjustable temperature and brightness- 18650 batteries- integrated hanger for inside the tent- could be used for my wife's phone charging needs- nice pill shaped carrying case- basically everything else100% happy with my purchase and will 100% buy again when I need another lantern or two for my boys.

Within days of receiving my BLF LT1 I experienced a power outage. Thankfully this was just a short outage but it was at nighttime. This was a perfect opportunity to put my new lantern to the test. I had previously set the tint to just where I wanted it, and when the lights all went out it was time for my new lantern to shine. This thing lights up a whole room with ease, and it felt like I still had my electric lamp still on. This lantern has lots of features (If you're into that sort of thing), but my favorite by far is the ability to get that warmer tint... So many lanterns do not offer that feature. This light runs off of 4 18650 batteries which give it a lot of power and I imagine good run times too. I like that the batteries are removable, so that 5 or 10 years from now this thing can still be running strong on new batteries. The build quality on this lantern is beyond what you would find on most lanterns, this is the lantern to get if you're a flashlight junkie.

Any product that comes with instructions that require a magnifying glass is one I can't recommend and will avoid in the future. Even with a magnifying glass, I could not read the instructions. Another modern user interface; if you don't have the instructions is a source of frustration. Like most who are going to use a lantern, it is purchased for emergency and occasional use. If by some miracle you can read the mini instructions, a year later, when you go to use it, you will have no idea how to use it. I have a dozen flashlights with the same interface and wish they had several different buttons and switches instead of one button designed for 40 different functions that needs to be pressed with just the right sequence for desired results.

This is the real deal in premium lanterns. It produces a very bright and adjustable (for both color temperature and brightness) light for a respectable amount of time. I bought another one and encourage others to do the same. Yes the lantern is not inexpensive, but this is a case of getting what you pay for. The aluminum body is strong, and it has two attachment points to a tripod. Yes, I have purchased cheaper lanterns, but they are dimmer and made of weaker materials. Indoors or on the trail, this is one must-have source of illumination,.

I own a number of Sofirn lights and all of them are very high quality, this lantern is no different. It is very bright and can easily light up a larger room, great for power outages. I haven't personally tested run time but reviews say 6+ hours on high, you will not need it on high to light up a room. The option to change the tint is a great feature. It is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. Candle mode is really cool, on a warm color setting it looks just light a candle is burning. This would be great for camping, although it is a little heavy. I would not be using this backpacking any longer distances. Overall a great light. Sofirn makes good products at good prices.
