The deodorant itself is very soft and that's what holds it onto the holder. Not into onto. So it breaks off and you have a soft sticky blob to rub on your armpit. It was a waste of a lot of money. Would not recommend.

I, too, was disappointed when the product broke during first use. But there had to be a way to use the deodorant without breaking. I got a refill from another source and tried different ways of holding it. I found holding the dispenser vertically and swiping up and down kept the deodorant intact. I've been happily using the deodorant ever since (months). Swiping while holding it horizontally puts too much pressure on the base. Also if the lid won't stay on, turn it around and it will usually stay on. The back might click up, but gently push it back in place and it will usually stay close. I'm glad I figured this out because I'd hate to waste the deodorant just because I didn't take the time to figure it out. I really like Dove's idea of less waste.

I opened the package put it together and it fell apart the first time I used it. It's not made to just click back together. You can't fix it once it falls apart, it becomes useless and not able to use again. I'm returning it back, asap! I would suggest to keep the box handy to send back the item. The design is made cheaply and not worth the money. I use Dove products all the time and this is the first one, that I'm vey disappointed with and it doesn't operate correctly. They need to rethink the design.

The idea for this product was great and saves much wasted plastic. However, the lack of support, against the deodorant stick, causes bending and breaking. Mine broke at the base during its first use. I will not buy any refills due to this issue and will be going back to the original design.

This was a complete waste of money. The deodorant itself ( the refill ) is very soft and sticky when applied. It does it's job but is not pleasant to use The refill broke off from the case within a few uses rendering it useless The high cost of this item is mostly in the case and now I cannot see how a new refill could be inserted as the deodorant( product )is stuck in the groves of the case. The entire product is now garbage headed to a landfill and I must begin anew to find a deodorant with ecologically sensitive packaging. Very frustrating and costly

I love the scent but hate the design. Because the whole deodorant part is exposed as a refill it has no support. It came off the base after a few applications. Now I just use my fingers to smear this deodorant lump into my armpit. At least it smells good and seems to be moisturizing.

On third use, the deodorant fell off the holder. To use the remaining (almost all) of the product, I have to hold the deodorant piece in my hand and rub it on that way. Now I'm stuck with a useless and expensive (for deodorant) reusable holder that doesn't work at all. I wish I could get a refund - what a waste!!

The media could not be loaded.  Note: This is a lengthy review, and I provide recommendations/alternatives near the end!So I bought two versions of this deodorant because I can be very forgetful about putting it on. One for purse and one for home, perfect for a purse and an opportunity to try two scents (original + cucumber). The cap of the original comes off very easily, but the cucumber stays on tight (see video). It may be an error in how the deodorant piece is put on? Idk.The original scent is really a face value scent. It’s nice and subtle. It may not be for those with a BO problem (see recommendations at the bottom for more info). It is a GEL, so it feels kind of wet when first applied. I got used to it, but it may be uncomfortable for some. I personally think it’s better than a hard natural deodorant that has to heat up to your skin to be applied. This also makes it prone to breakage, but I really think that’s if you apply too much pressure. I apply the stick vertically | with little pressure and not — horizontally if that makes sense.Overall, I DO recommend this deodorant for it’s beautiful case, nice scent, and environmental concern. However, I am not a heavy worker, outside person, or anything like that, so I cannot attest for that kind of use. I can see how many would not like it.If you would like a natural deodorant, but want to avoid these flaws, here are my recommendations:Better case: cardboard/compostable tube. Originally popularized by MeowMeowTweet Pros: push tube, easier to protect deo. Cons: harder and must warm up to your skin.Stronger scent: Green tea + cucumber from the same refillable dove line. If you have trouble with BO, I am not sure that I would recommend these since they are not anti-perspirants. But that green tea + cucumber is a great scent, so who knows?Gel deo: suave has cheaper gels, but it plastic packaging. Better for those getting used to gels, and nice scents too!Thanks for reading.
