Love my Siemens Gigaset E630!
This is a truly awesome phone. I had to replace my Siemens 8800 system after 14 years and knew that no other brand would do - better build quality and longer lasting than the offerings from Panasonic, VTech, etc. I spent about a week investigating the new cordless phone offerings on Amazon and other sites and feel that this one strikes the right balance of offering everything you need and more without having too much techno gadgetry or complexity for typical home use. I'm not shy around technology and I have to say that this is a truly full-featured phone with too many helpful functions to list. Also, unlike what others reported previously, it does indeed have a mute function (look at the right side of the center intercom button that has an image of a microphone with a diagonal line drawn across it). I've spent the last day studying the well written owner's manual and customizing my phone system (5 phones) and am excited with my new possibilities. Also, I don't have small children in the house and don't plan to use these handsets near water, etc. but still wanted a rugged yet stylish phone to withstand the occasional drop to the floor - much like the 8800 which now seems very antiquated. With that said, there are a number of intriguing Siemens models that are not available in the US but this phone still seems like a winner. I will report back as I continue to use the phone but so far so good! UPDATE 10/2020: Phone still works great. Note that the clear plastic display on the front will develop a cloudy haze with regular use. Just wipe it down with alcohol and you will be good to go.

Simply The Best !!
This is the best home consumer phone that you can buy in the United States. You will need to plug it in and then spend an evening learning how the Germans "think". I already own a BMW so I am learning too. Once you figure out a few things that are not explained well in the manual, you will love this phone and you will thank me for convincing you to buy it. The items that are NOT explained adequately in the manual are precisely the things that a German would not need to have explained. Hence, there is no need to delineate them in writing. For example, a German would know immediately that if you want to engage the speaker phone, all you need to do is hit the green button a second time. (The Germans love to give double (and sometimes triple duty) to a variety of buttons.) That is important to understand. It comes in handy when you are adding phone numbers to your in-phone directory. For example, if you are adding the name 'Kline' to your directory, you will need to hit the number "5" twice to bring up the "K" on the screen. After a few failed entries, the process will become so automatic that you will be adding numbers so fast that the process will become second nature to you. At that point, you will begin thinking like a German and you will really begin to understand what this phone is capable of. For example, Americans do not understand, (and therefore complain) because the cup holders in their BMW are terrible and there are not enough of them. If you understand how Germans think, you will begin to understand why BMW designs cup holders so poorly. (In Germany, they drive so fast that holding a giant slurpy is simply out of the question.) You keep your HANDS ON THE WHEEL and pay attention to what you are doing. On this one, I can simply guarantee my recommendation and you can curse me if you find out that I have been misleading you.

Nice Phone
This has a lot of great features i would think that in development the overall handset being 25-33% bigger would be helpful for people not use to texting and the close proximity of the number keys, for myself i can oversea this and think of the features alone

Do Not Buy This Phone If You Want It to Ring
DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. I AM WARNING YOU, DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE. It is the most unreliable piece of electronic equipment I have ever owned. If you keep it plugged in it become overcharged. If you unplug it runs out of juice. It is constantly losing contact with its "base". Most recently, I waited all day for a delivery. I checked numerous times to make sure it was working. At the end of the day I checked it and there were three messages WHERE THE PHONE DID NOT RING. If you can't tend to it every minute of every day it will fail. It is threat to life and safety. DON'T BE A FOOL. DON'T BUY.

Great customer service but replacement parts could be an issue ...
The unit itself is a marvel compared to the other brands and units we have seen on the market. I expect these to last a long time. Great customer service but replacement parts could be an issue because they don't have a replacement facility in the states. However, the technology and options (if you wish) meet our current needs and it is flexible to meet future likes/dislikes. Top notch. The only issue is with the charger plug design. When the unit is fully charged, you can hear a very low level alternating pulse coming from the charger plug- sounds like a quiet but noticeable ticking from a clock seconds hand. To hear it at all, you need perfect silence and you notice it from up to about 5 feet away. That is the unit not overcharging but trickle charging the battery -long life!! Electrical tape mutes it some. Not a deal breaker for me but just letting you know. Other than that, pretty near perfect in our books. It is so adaptable with options. If you don't use options, it comes with default settings out of the box. No problem registering with the base. Read the manual and have it exactly as you want. Wing it, after registering the phones to the system, and it works fine.....

Best durable cordless phone right now
My landline is an emergency backup for my cell phone, so the landline has to be reliable. I love this Gigaset cordless phone. It has a nice feel in the hand, pleasant ringtone options, long range, excellent call clarity, and itโs durable! One nice little feature is that you can turn it into a flashlight with a quick button press from the main screen (it uses the call indicator LED on top). This phone is Made in Germany.

Love it
Has a great and secure clip on it that holds the phone in my shirt pocket. Iโve dropped it (accidentally) a few times, still performs perfectly. Easy to use and hear the other person too. Great coverage from the base also!

Way overpriced!
The Gigaset E630A cordless landline phone is a poor value for the cost. A poorly written user's manual (a literal translation from the German) says nothing about a 'hold' or 'hold with music' function. Handset volume is not loud enough in noisy environments. The answering system is primitive. All in all, its a very poor value for an expensive telephone.
