This thing is awesome. I wish I had bought it years earlier. If you're considering it, do it. You will be happy. Yes, it's a bit loud, but it's a powerful impact driver, they make noise. Put on some protection for your eyes and ears.

Does exactly as they have done for years. This model (231ha) exhausts out the bottom of the handle producing 10 ft lbs less than a 231c model. So depending on what you want either of the above mentioned models are good.

This impact has enough torque to get my lugs off my truck and remove rested nuts with ease. I recently completed a harmonic balancer replacement and it was only possible with this impact. Ingersoll-Rand and specifically the 231 has countless testimonials from people that have been using the impact for 20+ years. These impacts will last forever if taken care of properly and even if you neglect it people report of it working for decades still. All you have to do is oil daily before and after use and install a water/oil filter on your air hose line. Water from the compressor can accumulate and rust the impact if no filter is installed but again this will last for years and years without one. A lot of the new impacts are plastic and supply more torque. When advertised the composite plastic air impacts seem awesome. They usually promote the light weight high torque capacity. Well this 231 Ingresoll impact can handle any job I have thrown at it with ease. There are five setting and I have no issue with it ripping bolts off. A problem with the composite plastic is they do not last as long. Metal can outlast plastic any day obviously. As for the weight of a metal impact, it is not bad at all. The only time you will notice a difference is with prolong use. I would recommend this to anyone and the HA is a nice feature. HA stands for hand air which means the air output comes out from the bottom and not from the front. This directs the air away from your work area and prevents car dust and deposit from flying all over.
