The Kitchen Chair
I purchased this 8 months ago but waited a while to write a review so I could see how well this this would perform and I have to tell you it has proven to be a very sturdy well built chair/step stool that has held up beautifully to the rigors of everyday life with a disabled person, me. I knew when I bought this assembly would be required and thought to assign this task to my son, but, he was not available when it arrived and being the impatient person that I am I set myself to the task instead. Surprising I found it to be a fairly simple job given all of the cautionary tales in the reviews here regarding this, the instructions were clear and I did not run into any problems, it took a little time but most things do for me these days. I gave it a home in my kitchen with the job of letting me sit on it while I do the prep work for my meals, cook, eat at the table and wash the dishes. It comes through like a pro by being very sturdy, stable, with a wide seat that makes me feel secure while sitting yet light enough to be easily moved around and small enough to tuck out of the way in my less then spacious kitchen all while displaying it's retro good looks. With limited mobility and a need to take a seat quite often this chair/step stool has been a real blessing for me. The taller height of the chair makes it easier on me to go from sitting to standing and while I am standing in my kitchen the top bar on the chair back has also been very helpful during those times I need a little something to hold on to steady myself. For the price this is fantastic buy one I would happily make again. Update 2022: Still in daily use and it has held up beautifully over the years. Does it function and look as good as the day I got it?... Yes, yes it does! Rarely do I find something that is this durable for such a great price.

Better than the other model.
We are very happy with this step stool. I assembled it and I believe it is as solid and firm as the one I use to sit on as a child 50 years ago. I had no issues with the assembly. Simply, keep all the screws loose until all the screws have been inserted. Then, go back and tighten them in the order you inserted them. I chose this model over the one that has the steps you have to pull out for this one specific reason: If you want to get something out of a cabinet, with the one that you have to pull out the steps: 1. You drag it where you want it. 2. You bend way down to grab the step. 3. Pull the steps out and into position. 4. And then step. When you're done with it, you have to do all those steps in reverse. With this one, there is no bending down. And there is no pulling out the steps. You drag it in place, flip the seat up, and step. Your hand is right there from dragging it by the backrest, and you flip the seat up. When you'e done: Flop the seat down and put it away. Having to bend over, to grab the steps, so you can pull them out, is just one more thing that you have to do with the other model. I saw that as a reason we probably wouldn't use it as much. My wife wanted that other model, and I saw that as the result. I bought this model, and she loves it. "Drag, flip up the seat, step." It is much easier to use than the other model.
