Size: 12 x 12 inches This painting is part of a series of flower paintings, painted from imagination and incorporating patterns. I enjoy the play with the juxtaposition of organic shapes and geometrical patterns as well as the process of mixing elements of drawing with elements of painting. The paintings in this series are all named after a city. After the painting is done, I look at it and think about a place the designs make me think about, as patterns are highly associated with cultures. These associations might not always be accurate but they represent my perception of various places and cultures. Sometimes it can be a place I have been to, sometimes it can be how I imagine that place to be.
