Great Island Mount Range Hood
My wife and i have been looking for one of these for months and we decided on this one. We are very pleased as it adds an elegant touch to our kitchen. Not only is it nice looking, but also functional. The fan is very quiet at its lowest setting, moderate at its mid setting, and moderate to loud at its highest setting. The four LEDs provide more than enough light on the cooktop.Installation took a couple of hours using the provided manual and a youtube video for an AKDY Island Mount Range Hood: Installation (Type A). The manual is written in english, but I suspect it was translated from another language using something like Google translate; the words are in english, but not everything makes sense. The youtube video also shows how to attach the unit to the ceiling rafters using 2x4s. DO NOT attach it to a drywall ceiling alone as the manual suggests, it is too heavy. All hardware is provided, and it all fits the ways it is supposed to.The unit came well packaged in a large box, there was not a single blemish on anything, and everything worked straight out of the box.If you are a do-it-yourselfer you will not have any issues with this installation.A couple of tips:Place the provided paper template on the ceiling above the center of the cooktop. Use a plumb bob to make sure you place the center of the cross on the template right above the center of the cooktop. You will need a couple of extra hands to lift the hood while you attach it to the rails.Very happy with our purchase.

Contractor's view
I was nervous after reading reviews about the instructions and install but the it turned out better than I thought. The instructions were straight forward if you take the time to actually read them. The machine itself is actually pretty nice. Looks good. The quality is what you would expect for the price. The instructions state that this unit works for 8-9 ft ceilings but is actually perfectly designed for 9 ft ceilings. For an 8ft ceiling like I had, I had to cut down the chimney which was a pain but not too bad. The whole install with wiring to a panel and cutting the chimney took 4hrs. Also needs two people as it is heavy. The only annoying things about this unit were the chimney issue, the machine screws are cheap and that the hardware bag opened up in the box during shipping so I had parts everywhere. At least nothing was damaged.

Almost great
We would have given this 5 stars except for:1) Disappointed there is only an on or off setting for the light. There isn't a night light setting.2) The baffle filters rattle when the fan is turned on. My husband fixed this by installing foam weather stripping above them. Something the mfg should have done.3) There was no way to get electricity into the chimney to power the unit as we used the only hole in the metal mounting plate for the exhaust duct. My husband had to solve this mfg oversight by drilling a 1/2 inch hole in the plate and inserting a wiring clamp.

The unit construction and function are great. The manual is terrible and leaves much to be desired. We have low ceilings (7'10") in our kitchen so I ordered this unit as it specified it would be 19" from the ceiling. In the stock form this range hood will never be 19" from the ceiling. The stainless steel covers are too long. So, we grabbed the jig saw, painters tape and a nice metal cutting blade and modified the unit. We cut about 6" or more inches of each of the covers and then cut the brackets so we could achieve 36" distance from the cooktop. The cuts on the hood covers can be hidden as the bottom cover sits about an inch into the unit and will hide your first cut. The second cut on the top hood cover is hidden inside the first cover so you will never see the cuts. In all it took about 3-4 hours to install with these modifications. I should also note that this went into a completely unfinished kitchen we had no issues with electrical or the mounting plate. Have fun and stay thirsty my friends!

The range hood worked fine at first but after a month started making a loud noise after it was turned off, regardless of the speed. I contacted Zuhne about this issue. They did respond but never received the video I sent through, although I sent it several times, so the issue remains unresolved. I’m concerned this noise may lead to future problems.

It looks awesome. The engineering sucks
It looks awesome. The engineering sucks. Why is there a plug on the power supply when there is nowhere to plug it in between the outer housing and the inner flexible tube?We had to drill a hole in the ceiling mount to get the power cord into the attic for a power supply. We had to cut the stainless steel tubes to the correct length to be able to tighten the bolts and get the unit hanging at the correct height from the ceiling.I own a machine shop and I had a hell of a job installing this thing.A regular homeowner would have no chance of installing this item!!!!!Take a look at your shabby engineering to make it an easier installation.Best Regards Geoff Slater ( G.S.Marine Fabricating )

Very nice quality for the money
Very nice quality for the money. Instructions are lacking but only a qualified person should be installing this. The only issues I had was that the metal charcoal filter whistles very badly when you're using it. I just removed it since mine is ventilated. Another minor gripe is that the vent covers also rattle while the fan is on. There is about 1/4 of an inch of movement that can happen when the fan is engaged and sucks the vents. Some little stick on rubber feet inside the bezel to secure the covers fixed that quite easily. Due to the whistling filter, I don't know that I would recommend this for a non-vented application, but since mine is vented, I would recommend it. Noise is no different than any other range hood I've heard. They're loud on the highest setting because they're moving a lot of air.
