Limited 180gm audiophile vinyl LP pressing. Mahogany Rush is a Canadian Rock band led by guitarist Frank Marino, whose soaring lead guitar work bears a strong resemblance to the playing of Jimi Hendrix. In the late 70's and onward, the group toured as Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush and at times is referred to simply as Frank Marino. Mahogany Rush commanded a loyal, good-sized following and provided it's share of five-star albums. One of them is this live album, which was recorded during their U.S. tour in late 1977 and came out on vinyl the following year. Mahogany knew how to burn on stage, and this excellent LP really captures the vitality of it's 1970s concerts. You gotta hear Frank Marino let loose on live versions of 'Dragonfly', 'Electric Reflections of War' and 'The Answer'. The band is equally captivating on performances of Jimi Hendrix's 'Purple Haze', Chuck Berry's 'Johnny B. Goode' and Muddy Waters' 'I'm a King Bee'. 'Live' is consistently rewarding and is enthusiastically recommended to anyone into hard rock and classic heavy metal.

What a band!
waited for years just to get the songs King Bee/Backdoor Man, and they're just as great as I remember them! And it's full of Frank's lightening guitar playing.

LP sound quality is great!
This record has a pop on side two that lasts about three revolutions, exactly like a dumb dumb dropped a needle on it. It isn't awful loud or even noticeable upon inspecting it.This is second LP I've replaced that's made by Music on Vinyl. Both have had a good sound.

Frank in all his glory!!
Here we are again talking about Frank Marino and bandmates Mohogany Rush. Fantastic hard rock trio set aside by people who feel he sounds too much like ..Jimi...he's from that mold for sure some stolen lics..for sure..but you can not deny there power and talent. The record Mohogany Rush IV breaks away from that Hendrix sound and has some great new sounds going on there..if thats were you want to start...The first three albums are for Jimi as burnt offerings. The live 78 album here gives you all the great stuff from the 70's concert days. Frank was to peak technicaly in 83' with "Juggernaut" He and the band are just fun to listen to and tell the story of the mad guitar player that gets no respect! ...in time Frank in time.

Great price but poor graphics
This record has a great price, but the graphics are really poor. The musicians are not even listed. Anyway this one has great perfomances in Dragonfly, I'm a King Bee, Purple Haze. Is this really a 100% live record? I can't tell. The crowd noise seems to be put in the final mix. The sound is OK.

Unbelievable guitar player
If you like virtuoso guitar playing and long complicated soloing, then Frank Marino is for you. The man's fingers fly over the strings. He has a deep, rich tone to his guitar and plays in a style that is a blend of blues and 70s trippiness. His band Mahogany Rush is a solid one but are really just there to provide backup to Frank's majestic guitar playing. On this CD he does originals with old standards like Johnny B. Good, Purple Haze and the blues classic I'm a King Bee.Frank never had the knockout career other guitar gods had and now most people don't remember him, but he is an amazing musician.

Great live rock album
Worth it if it was only his version of Johnny B. Goode. Great live rock album.
