Philips LED Frosted A19, Non-Dimmable, 800 Lumen, Soft White Light (2700K), 10W=60W, E26 Base, 16-Pack

Love these Phillips 60watt bulbs. I have over 70 of these in service throughout my house for over 2 years and not a single one has failed or dimmed (that I can tell), including in some totally enclosed fixtures which you aren't supposed to do for heat and lifetime reasons. These have paid for them selves several time over in energy savings I'm sure. Getting on my soapbox for a second...there have been reviews that argue about the 10 year 'rated' life of these vs other bulbs. Keep in mind that LED bulbs in 10 years are likely to be more efficient and cheaper than today. So, it makes absolutely no sense to pay 5x the price for a bulb that supposedly will last 15 more years. In fact when I first started buying this bulb 2 years ago they were $2.50 per bulb (which I thought was a smoking deal), and the batch I just bought on Amazon was just slightly over $1.50 per bulb. The exact same bulb already dropped in price by 40%!!! My only wish? Drop 2700K. That is legacy because we're used to it from years of incandescent lighting. Please switch wholesale to 3000-3500K bulbs instead of 2700K. The 5000K bulbs are too blue, and the 2700K bulbs are a little yellow. 3000-3500K light would be more like halogens which is still warm, but a little more like sunlight. Addendum 3/7/2019 Be careful! I recently ordered more. At least when I ordered, there were two types of these non-dimmable 60W equivalent Phillips bulbs under this listing depending on what size pack you purchase. Both put out 800 lumens and are 2700K color temperature light. The similarity ends there. Type 1) plastic bulb with a ceramic base and draw 8.5W Type 2) glass bulb that draws 7W My house is full of the 1) variety with the plastic bulb for the past 4 years. Not a single bulb has died. They are great. I just ordered the 24 pack listed here and they were the 2) variety with glass bulb. To test I put one in a side-by-side, identical, fixture with the old bulbs and WOW the light was awful. These 2) variety type put out really yellow light. Again, both are rated at 2700k and hence 'should' look similar. I believe the LED technology is not the same in these two varieties. So, if you like REALLY yellow light, then get the type 2) with frosted glass and drawing 7W. If you want warm, but whiter light, then you want type 1) with frosted plastic and drawing 8.5W. I had to return the 24-pack. Can't live with that yellow of light. Addendum 3/11/19: I bought some more of the 1) 8.5W bulbs somewhere else and they are pretty yellow too. Something has changed for the worse. Either Phillips has significant variation in color temperature from batch to batch or something has changed. I liked the color temperature of the first batches I received.

This review is for the soft white 16 pack of the 60-Watt equivalent LED bulbs. First I've been converting all the lights in my house to LED over the last 2 years. Finally decided to finish it off. These bulb are the closest I've found to the old filament style soft whit bulbs. They are a vast improvement over all the florescent or CFL out presently. The bulb give a very nice diffused whit light without the blue or green tinge I've come to expect from CFL. This is especially nice in the bathroom for women putting on makeup and checking the match of your clothes. The CFL just give the wrong tinge that hides things you see in sunlight. After replacing the lights in my fans (filament and CFL) for something like the fifth or sixth time that year (my ceiling fan is 14-feet in the air in the living room) I had it. I started looking and got some LED lights. Had to get a converter for the plug as I wanted to only have to go to a single style bulb (these) for both consistence and price. When I started they were significantly more expensive. To date I have not needed to replace any of the LED bulbs in my house. We recently replaced the fixtures in the bathroom and I made this purchase to finish off any non LED lights in the house. 60-Watts for me is a great level for me as not too bright for indoor use like the 90-100-Watt equivalents are. These are soft white so its not so harsh as 60-Watt regular (think this the daylight version) which are hard to look at directly. This can be an issue depending on lights in your house (lamps, spots, etc) Do not make the mistake that these are non-heat they are much cooler than CFL and vastly cooler than filament. They have a minimal heat 2-3 degrees which for many purposes is no heat. This is on the casing of the bulb. I understand from a friend who didn't replace the broken plastic that they can hurt. I have no intention of finding this out for myself. In areas where multiple bulbs are located you may want to check on a lower equivalent. 4x 60 for my fan in the bedroom is a lot. The 6x (two sets of 3 bulbs each) in the bathroom is shockingly bright. My wife loves it. I could have gone for 40-Watt and found that acceptable. Pros: bright clear soft white color, to date none have needed replacing, noticeably cooler than florescent and substantially cooler than filament (see above though) Cons: price while good is still more than CFL may balance in the long run as I haven't needed to replace even one yet.

Bought 4 of the 16 packs. As of right now I will give them 5 stars I've used about 24 of them and have yet to have a DOA or issue with any of them in the week I've used them. They were replacements for traditional halogens and there color matches them pretty well but they are noticeably brighter, the picture I took shows a bit too much yellow which isn't the case in real life. As for reliability I will update my review if I notice any issues in the coming months and continue converting the rest of my house. I have no flicker or buzzing issues, and all of them seem genuine and show the Phillips logo on the sides. It should also be noted the boxes for these show a 10 year life span at 3 hours a day usage. Much less than the industry average which is odd but acceptable for this price range, that estimate seems much more realistic as well. I'm more interested on how its electronics will last in the long term. We shall see and I will update my review if any fail in the next year Update 09/29/2019: Have had these since Decembers of 2018 and only had one go out so far around July due to being on a bad dimmer switch (not designed to be on them I know) It started flickering quite bad in any light bulb socket. After deploying them in my entire house, my entire house is now LED only and with Cree or Philips bulbs. These are a great affordable bulb and because they've lasted without problem for 8 months, I can surely recommend them. Update 06/2023: Still have these bulbs and no issues and have only had to replace one that started flickering. These bulbs converted my whole house to led only and my monthly electric bill was improved. Excited to see how much better the technology gets when these sets start to burn out.

UPDATE: I ordered the SOFT WHITE and these bulbs are much better. They are BRIGHTER than a 60 watt incandescent but use only 7 watts. Slightly yellower in hue that an incandescent bulb, but unless you are a Broadway lighting designer, I doubt you will notice. I am happy with the "SOFT WHITE" (whatever that means) bulbs. ALSO: These are not dimmable. When attached to a tabletop dimmer switch they flashed on and off. DO NOT ORDER THE DAYLIGHT BULBS UNLESS YOU ARE RUNNING A DENTISTS OFFICE! This has a horrible blue color like a COOL WHITE florescent bulb and will make you and your house look UGLY. If you are running a hospital, auto repair shop, veterinary office, dental office or other INDUSTRIAL FACILITY these might be OK. For your bathroom or home? Shows EVERY SPECK OF DIRT and makes everyone look 10 YEARS OLDER. I reordered these as SOFT WHITE but is that the same as WARM WHITE? Who knows? Phillips makes up their own terms here, instead of using industry terms COOL WHITE and WARM WHITE, so you have no way of knowing what spectrum you are getting. All I can say is, DAYLIGHT is hideous and unlike daylight on any planet other than Pluto. I suppose I can use these bulbs in my garage or in a closet or workshop, but they are USELESS for home use. Very disappointed in Amazon on this order! Items missing from box, shown as "delivered" and items I never ordered were shipped.

Leave a comment if you have any questions and I can either take some photos or give more details. This was a good quick and easy upgrade from the CFL's that were previously installed. Each LED bulb was about 5 watts less then the one it replaced so there was about 33% reduction in energy use. We found no single brand bulb and brightness worked for us and needed to buy several different types. I'll go into that below. The biggest show stopper for some of these bulbs is if you want the bulb to be dimable. Make sure you plan ahead and get dimable bulbs. Non-dimable LED bulbs will not work properly when you try and dim them. In my photo you can see; Left LED bulb; Phillips 450 lumen soft white (40w) bright, but not too bright. Middle LED bulb; Phillips 800 lumen soft white (60w) a lot of light, warmer feel. Right LED bulb; LE 810 lumen warm white (60w) more light, colder feel. This should give you a decent comparison between the different bulbs and what their level of brightness is. The Phillips bulbs are slightly shorter then normal bulbs so unlike the LE we were able to replace some of the shorter CFL's in smaller light fixtures without having to buy dedicated short bulbs again. We chose the 450 lumen 40w replacement LED bulbs for exposed bulb fixtures like ceiling fans so they are not painful if you look at one. This also went in the "powder room" bathroom. This did not put out enough light for a bedside lamp. It felt too dim. No more blinding effect when looking up at the ceiling fan in the living room! Some lamps and room ceiling lights got the LE warm whites where the bulbs needed a little more output to get through the frosted glass. The walk in closet was one of those spots. Kitchen lights and upstairs bathrooms got the Philips soft white bulbs where a less "cold" light then the LE was needed but still brighter light for recipe reading, food prep, getting ready etc would be wanted. We also put this bulb in the bed side lamps for a brighter but warmer feeling. I would buy these bulbs again.

These are great bulbs. The light is perfect, a close match for high-quality incandescent bulbs. Not bleached out or bluish, but not orangey. The bulbs themselves are great. The entire "globe" part of the bulb is transparent. It isn't half clear plastic and half white, like some of the cheaper bulbs. This lets it radiate light evenly, and makes it good for lamps as well as fixtures. The clear part is plastic, not glass, so there's less worry of breakage. The bulbs are very efficient. They don't even get warm, let alone hot. After running for several minutes, they're just barely warmer than the furniture and walls in the room. You'll burn your hand on an incandescent, and even compact fluorescent bulbs are hot to the touch. That's wasted energy that's making heat instead of light, and then you waste energy again by cooling your house from the extra heat. I bought these bulbs for safety reasons, not energy savings, though. The incandescent bulbs the builder had put in the fixture above my shower caused the plastic housing to melt and char. This could have easily set my house on fire, and I had no idea at the time. What brought it to my attention was when the housing eventually melted to the point of failure, and dropped the oven-hot glass lens on top of my wife while she was in the shower! I ordered these bulbs that day, and replaced every bulb in my house.

I'm very happy with these lights. I was able to replace all of my old incandescent bulbs which will save me a few bucks. Lights use so little power that they really don't make a huge difference to your power bill unless you have tons and tons on constantly. However, these are still a great purchase because they run so much cooler. Regular incandescent bulbs waste around 90% of the energy on heat. These don't ever get warmer than room temperature! I definitely notice a difference when all the lights are on in a smaller room. And these are a little safer too: you (or your kids) can't get burned, and they're plastic, not glass! The are supposedly 60 watt replacements, but they're actually a little brighter than the incandescents I replaced. Their clarity is better too. I don't know how to explain it, but they light the room up better; somehow there are less dark areas. They won't pay for themselves in the first month or anything like that, in fact they likely won't pay for themselves through your electricity bill for a long time. But they'll keep your rooms cooler, look nicer, be safer, and they'll last significantly longer than incandescent or CFLs.

Aside from these giving off good light, Ive bought these twice now, and both times they’ve only lasted us about 15 months. I would say our lights are on about 2-4 hours a day, so nothing out of the ordinary, I’m actually very aware of shutting off electrical items to save in cost so i would say we are conservative using our lights. When we got these the first time we removed all our light bulbs to replace them with these LED bulbs! It’s a win in my books if you aren’t having to change lightbulbs constantly! Getting out your ladder, toting it all over the house, removing fixtures, it’s all a pain! But I’m sorry to say these did not last any longer than a normal light bulb, probably less actually! I gave them a second shot because i didn’t know if we got a bad batch, but here we are, all our bulbs are burning out and i purchased our second round 15 months ago. I don’t typically write reviews but I felt it necessary for everyone to know how they worked for us! Meanwhile I’ll be researching an LED bulb that actually lasts longer!
