is it easy to remove and put back on? like would it tear easily or does it snap on?

Yes it is easy to put on and no it won't tear easy but it's really nice and great. My son loved it

How good does it protect from falls?

This is a good light weight case. If you want heavy duty protection buy something more heavy duty. It is a really nice case with what I would call medium protection. I wanted protection, but I want the case to also fit into my pockets.
