HTC ONE M9 32GB Unlocked (GSM Only, No CDMA) 20MP Camera Smartphone, Gunmetal Grey

I have now had this phone for about a month. I moved to this phone from an iPhone 4, which I moved to from an HTC One X. PROS: - The phone is very sleek and well designed, both on the outside and the design of the UI. - The UI is fast and looks great. It's slick and helps you get to what you want quickly. It is customizable with the Themes app, but I haven't used it much as it seems a bit complicated. - The screen is big and bright. Images look very sharp. - I really missed Android. I love the interaction with Google Now, the ability to use widgets, and the ability to get apps such as Twilight and Google Keyboard that really let you customize the phone. - Battery is decent. If I charge it all night, it is at about 40% by the end of the day, unless I leave it on battery saver all day, in which case it ends around 60%. - There's a slot for an SD card which is great if you have a lot of music and/or like to take a lot of pictures. - The speakers are loud. Very loud. There's not a ton of bass, but the quality of speakers is like none other I've ever seen in a phone. CONS: - The camera is likely the biggest con. Even at 20 Megapixels, it lacks a good dynamic range, and the pictures could definitely be sharper. The camera does serve it's basic purpose, but if you want phenomenal travel pictures, stick to a DSLR. - The phone has a tendency to get hot. It doesn't overheat but it can be a bit uncomfortable to hold. My case helps though, since I'm at least not holding hot metal but a warm-ish silicone now. - I do wish it had a personal dictionary that allows you to put in shortcuts. My old iphone let me set it up so that I could type "myaddress" and it would auto change to my full address. I also find that the personal dictionary for the Google Keyboard doesn't work with this phone for some reason. - Not sure how big a deal this will be to everyone, but I don't like the way the emojis look in this phone. I'm planning to root it so I can swap out the picture set. Another thing to mention is that the phone currently doesn't have the most updated emoji keyboard, meaning it's missing a few of my favorites such as the middle finger emoji. If that's important to you, keep that in mind. - I also really miss the visual voicemail that my iPhone had. Navigating through the voicemail on this phone feels so archaic. - Supposedly the 4G LTE doesn't always work if you're on T Mobile. I'm on AT&T so it's not a problem for me, but check which bands your network supports and compare them to this phone. FINAL THOUGHTS The phone may not be perfect. It has a handful of cons. I don't think any phone is really perfect though, since you will always have to make a sacrifice whether it is camera quality, battery life, price, etc. However, this phone is really a powerhouse and $300 for a current-gen flagship phone from one of the major companies is a fantastic deal.

The phone works great and came with specs as ordered but the title is completely misleading. The phone is in fact GSM unlocked, but it's only GSM unlocked! The Phone came with an AT&T logo in the back, which then I thought maybe its just a marketing thing, after booting it up with my non .AT&T sim card, the first thing I see is and AT&T theme when powering up. Next an AT&T custom application phone setup, I basically skipped every step and got to the phones' home page, my non-AT&T sim card gets signal and works, "phew, was close", now I go ahead and go to settings and manually ask the phone to check for updates, since it came with Lollipop OS bu the phone is up-gradable to Nougat 7.0, and that setting option says "AT&T software update" and again I thought that to be weird! Moving on, pressed the software update button just to find the phone prompting "No update is available for you at this time.... bla bla bla". Same problem with creating hotspot from my phone for other to connect, that feature is blocked if you're not AT&T. Phone is very hard to flash with a custom ROM or even to convert it to android Developer Edition RUU and very high risk to getting it bricked so I'm basically stuck with the old OS and most of the features don't work!

Initially when I bought this device I was extremely worried from the bad reviews I saw out there: reviewers were saying the device overheats, the screen was awful, camera was terrible and many many other things. As an HTC user, I use to know the quality of the devices they make, so I find these statements totally shocking compared to what I bought in the past form them, so I decided after many hours of thinking and double thinking to give HTC a chance based on my previous experiences with their devices. After a month of use, I don't regret my decision: there have been several updates form HTC, and each one of them have improved the aspects people were complaining about: - Overheating got severely reduced without affecting the device performance (at least that I can notice) - With a cooler device, battery life also improved. - There have been some improvements to the camera, making it decent to use in auto mode, manual and RAW mode are impressive giving very good details on what you can control and edit after the photography has been taken - The screen rant was basically for nothing: the screen is bright enough to look over direct sunlight, viewing angles are very good and color reproduction is accurate. - Sound quality is superb, the best out there in a smartphone I've heard, hands down. This + a good gamepad + the good screen makes it an outstanding combo for media consumption and gaming. This doesn't means it's the perfect phone, with some competition like the Galaxy S6 and the LG G4, it will depend from you on which one to get, what you can be sure about is any of these will make you happy. As I said the updates don't mean the phone is perfect now, there is still space to improve and you should be aware of the following: - For some people, the screen looks so "washed out" because it doesn't has too much contrast, this can be improved by software though. - The camera still needs a lot of work on details when zooming, the closer you get to 100% zoom or crop the more serious the problem becomes. Normal scaled pictures are fine though. - Battery life it's not perfect yet, and data connection drains battery so much, making it last sometimes less than M8, however the duration is actually on par to the S6 or the G4. About these, there are some leaks from android 5.1.1 update already, and they show an insane improvement on camera and battery departments, so if you're still deciding, I'd encourage you to wait for this update to be released to confirm if they're true.

Very disappointed with the product that has been delivered to me. While I am a huge Amazon fan, I am not at all satisfied with the product that I have received. The phone I had ordered was mentioned as an unlocked 32 GB HTC One M9. I received the phone within 3 days of booking. Loved the packaging and all. But, while I tried the initial configuration of the phone, it did not proceed after connecting to the internet saying "Unfortunately Setup Wizard has stopped working". While I tried hard restarting the phone, it shows as **Locked**, which seems to be false advertisement in my opinion. Amazon, please help in either refunding or replacing the device. I like shopping in Amazon, but am really disappointed with my "Black Friday" experience. Saubhik Chatterjee Update: I gave it another try yesterday night, and the configuration were successful some minor tweaks here and there. Apologies if I caused any problem to anyone. The phone is working absolutely fine now, and love the phone. Again, the phone is amazing. Thank you Amazon.

My previous T-Mobile phone took a dive, so I started looking for a new one. 4G LTE was a requirement. Faster, more storage. This thing is sleek and sexy. It's fast (especially compared to my old phone.) With a 64Gb SD it has lots of space. 32Gb internal is also roomy. But there are issues. I'll cover the most important one first. It will NOT work with T-Mobile 4G LTE. HTC sells this device as compatible with T-Mobile LTE. T-Mobile sells this device for 4G LTE, and their coverage map shows 4G coverage where I am for this specific phone. But it never gets faster than 3G. HTC claims it is the wrong hardware for 4G LTE. T-Mobile claims that HTC can help me get it configured properly; HTC claims there is no configuration possible. Everyone keeps asking if I've entered the APN data correctly. I keep telling them I did not enter the APN data AT ALL, it was set by T-Mobile, and I can't change it if I wanted to. But T-Mobile says it is correct. Just no 4G. It came with Android 4.something. After half a dozen update cycles it finally reached 5.1. That's where I stopped, since there were already too many apps that broke moving from 4 to 5. There is no way to disable the nag notification that there is a software update available. Other issues? You can't configure the lock screen to get rid of a widget that wants to use location services (i.e,. GPS) to look up your local weather online. The HTC Sync software for the PC thinks it should become your media player and scans your computer looking for music and videos, even after unchecking the default options that tell it to do that. It won't help manage media on the phone because it never detects the phone is connected. It took a bit of time, but the phone finally shows up on the PC so I can copy files to it, both internal and external memory. It isn't a disk, so I cannot create playlists for it directly, I have to copy the files to the local disk, create the playlist, and then copy the playlist back to the device. Unfortunately, the standard PC USB port does not provide enough current to charge the phone, so while I'm working on moving data around the battery is actually discharging. The default music player has no configuration that tells it I don't need the album covers for each and every Old Time Radio program I have, or to keep from showing them on screen as I select what to play. Winamp still rocks the llama because it is old enough not to need pictures to work. And one final one: the default messaging app cannot be convinced not to convert replies to SMS texts into MMS. SMS is covered by my text plan. MMS is an extra-cost option. The final score: mixed. It's absolutely amazing that two large companies can promise 4G LTE for this phone and neither one can manage to come through. Don't rely on any posted answers that quote the HTC website, because clearly all of the HTC online documentation is wrong. If you buy this for T-Mobile LTE, try it as soon as you get it. Don't wait until you've invested a lot of time installing things, because you may wind up stuck at 3G.

These phone companies are knowingly selling crap at a premium. For starters I am on the latest Android N 4.28 software. I didn't find out until after I ordered this phone that it has severe overheating problems. HTC knows it, claims to have fixed it (lies) and they keep on selling them. This phone overheats so bad you could fry an egg on it. You can't hold it, my fingers actually tingle like their getting radiated. Frankly I worry about it exploding it gets so hot. I've had about a dozen different smart phones and never seen a phone get this hot. Once it overheats it works like crap, stops charging and the battery drains like crazy. It also doesn't come with a fast charger. Don't try to actually use the phone when it's plugged in, battery still drains. The supposed fixes found around the net do nothing. This piece of crap should be recalled. The last several generations of phones are total crap. I went from a LG V10 with known screen retention problems to a LG G5 which had the same frickin problem. They know and still sell them!!! My Galaxy S7 went back after batteries started exploding. Now this! What the crap. No recalls? Robbery. I hate to say it but I might have to go Apple and I hate Apple.

Great phone, came from Samsung devices and want to try HTC for a while now, it doesn't let me down, was worried about several reviews on the device about camera and battery quality, don't know if in some patches I received from HTC those problems were solved but for me the camera is fine (not as good as Samsung but that's not a big issue for me) and battery life really impress me, I use the power saving option turned on always, maybe it has something to do but with medium use the phone have more than 50% at the end of my day, and that's better than Samsung in my experience. The phone is a computer, the hardware specs are great and it behave like what it is, a computer grade phone. There are some functionalities from HTC that I like a lot, the keyboard is great, really responsive (my advice is that you take the time to make a calibration fro your fingers, that helps a lot), the theme mode for icons and screen is fine, a lot to customize and a lot of great themes available. This is a review after a month of use, let's see how it behave in time.

After reading tech reviews, I wasn't expecting much in the way of features. As most of the reviews explain, this is more of "side-grade" as oppose to an upgrade. I was fine with that. When I received the phone, it was apparently for the European market as the charging plug was not US. Not a big deal. I have plenty chargers. My gripe with the phone is with the charging time and battery life. The life didn't seem to be performing better than my aged M7, which considering this was suppose to be a new phone, I would have expected better. But even that wasn't too bad as i was at least getting a full day's use out of the phone. The worst experience i had was with the charging time. After 10 hours of charging the phone had only reached 77%. Not acceptable.
