What keeps the bottom 2 poles from coming apart, just tension?

From what I can see, having recieved my pair, nothi ng holds it together. If the O-rings are the key, they need to be thicker. As it arrived to me... it just falls apart as noted. The internal cable keeps them from flying all over the place, but unless there is some jedi force to hold the bottom 2 sections in place, that I am missing... these are not well designed.

How do I tighten the cable inside? No hidden button that I can find.

There's no need to tighten it . The cable is there to hold the three pieces together and not to loose them. There are the right screws to tighten and keep the walker firm. The instructions that come with the walker says how. Have a good trek.

How heavy are the walking sticks?

About 9 ounces per hiking pole without accessories. If you attach the baskets or rubber tips, it'll be 9.5ounces per pole, it is ultralight.

As long as the lock is used correctly, the lock will be well secured and will be safe. Our poles have instructions on how to use the lock properly, so as long as you read and follow the instructions carefully, you don't have to worry.
