First off, I don't know the difference between the apparently vast number of Miso pastes available, so the comments about receiving red or brown miso instead of white make no difference to me. The "white" miso that arrived looks a bit reddish tan - the five other Shiro White miso pastes I ordered looked the same I was searching for Japanese restaurant style miso for soup with no luck, but THIS IS IT!! This miso makes the perfect miso soup! From the simple, high quality, ingredients to the very low price, this miso won - hands down.

It is not as described. It comes very very dark brown/red color not white at all. It was delayed so long that I couldn't even use it anymore. There is no dates for when it is best by to be used. The advertisement is very misleading and shipping is horrendous. I do not recommend.

This miso is authentic and good for miso soup. It’s worth the price.

I like the miso. It is not very thick and mixes into soups, sauces and condiments easy.

This is Aka (Red) Miso, Not Shiro (White) Miso. The color of the miso is strikingly dark reddish brown, and the taste isn't even close to what white miso provides. It's still good miso, but it's absolutely nothing close to what was advertised.
