Platinum Fountain pen PTL-5000A 14k Gold Fine point Red

The rating is a summary of things. The pen is good quality and like all Japanese products comes beautifully presented. Like all Japanese things it is small. Very small for a regular size man, much smaller than your standard Waterman, Pelikan or Montblanc. Good for a lady. I normally get Extra Fine nibs from European manufacturers and knowing Japanese are finer I purchased Fine. Still is very scratchy. I will not buy again but if I would I would go for Medium or broad. Now for the seller. Like many inexperienced sellers in Amazon it took forever--45 days to deliver! They missed their estimated date so I wanted to return. It was a nightmare of emails back and forth that we Amazon users are not accustomed to. The seller was very polite but useless to complete the return. So I gave up and kept it. I will not buy from this seller again.

Contrary to another review, this is a beautiful nib on this pen. Ink flows beautifully. I notice no scratchiness with the nib. For the money spent it is a great value. I’d recommend it to any looking for a starter fountain pen or as an everyday carry item. Writes as nice as my $300 pen.

I hate to say it, but this pen did not meet my expectations at all. This had the scratchiest nib I've ever come across... attempted to polish with no improvement. Would not recommend this pen to others.

Great pen, it is supposed to come with the cartridge converter, so I am upset they didn't include it. That is a bit dishonest.

You let it sit for two weeks, you pick it up and it writes. Even the cheap Preppy. I love that. I love the gold nib. The body is light plastic so it's not my Mont Blanc. It's not art. Know what you want and if this pen satisfies the requirements, you'll be happy.
