It makes for better tea water, which is my only concern where I live.
I love a good tea! And a full pot can take me a while to finish. While we enjoy some of the best drinking water for, well, ...drinking it off the tap in Germany, that same water contains enough lime and other small particles to cloud my tea, some of which I might actually re-heat in a microwave before I'm through.Letting that tea water run though a BRITA filter has been my solution for at least 30 years now: it ensures my tea remains clear until it's gone and I at least imagine it also tastes better (who cares for an objective truth?).While I understand why and how BRITA changed the original design of their filters, I never cared for following suit, if it mostly meant higher prices and having to replace the jug as well: too little additional benefit for my concerns. So I stuck with the old format and while the orignal BRITA glass water jug broke, there were plenty others were sold, which were compatible, studier and available.I'm sticking with BRITA filters, because cheaping out on those with knock-offs doesn't seem like a good idea, when you drink the result, while the extra purifying qualities of the newer systems don't yet seem required in Germany, where water quality is still generally rather good. That's also the reason I'm not using it for coffee or anything else.
