Works great when used correctly
I was using it wrong at first and was confused that it didn't seem to work. You have to stick it in the thickest part of the meat and push it down all the way until it hits the grayed out part on the needle. If you just stick the tip in, it won't work. Unless you're cooking a large roast, you do have to come in at angle because smaller pieces of meat most likely will not be thick enough to go all the way through straight in.But it works great once you figure out how to use it.

Simple. compact, convenient
Like all OXO products, this thermometer is well-designed. It come with a slender case for the pointy part, which is sharp enough to easily slide into cooked meat (or bread, casseroles, or whatever you may want to take a temperature reading of). Simple design, simple to clean, easy to store!
