Alnico 5 magnets. I love these pickups, much better than the burstbuckers that came standard in my LP Traditional. Go for it.

Can I use my duncan designed, gold pickup cover with this pickup?

I’m not that familiar with this product enough say yes or no. I’m still in the testing phase.
