Q: Can you fit a 750ml pot inside the outside pockets?

No. The outside pockets are about the size of a liter nalgen bottle.

Q: Can you fit a 16 once nalgean water bottle?

Yes. I fit my 32 oz. Nalgean bottle in one of the side pockets. It was snug but it fit. So, a 16 oz. bottle out to fit fine. If it's wide - e.g. just a short version of the 32 oz. bottle, then you'll have room to store other stuff in the side pocket either under or on top of the bottle. Hope this helps.

Q: Is the bag realy water resistant as noted in the description? i have read the reviews and some say that there is no PVC coating inside...

I just checked my bag and found the bottom portion is coated along with the inside of the top or flap is coated. I don't think you could find a better rucksack at this price.

Q: How good would this backpack be for an over nighter?

This backpack is spacious enough for all you want for a night away. I use mine traveling to festivals etc. Great on a motorcycle with the waist strap.
